Looking at the snow reports, Austria is looking most favourable, maybe Saalbach or Soll? :burn:

Go for it - have you had your suspension setup yet? Worth paying the £35 to the Ohlins guy who goes to the 100% trackdays (I think his name is Chris ... can't remember) but he'll spend all day with you fiddling with the bike and adjusting things.

He starts off by taking all your settings, then sets it up to a rough setting for you, then you go out on the track. All you have to do is explain what the bike is doing and what you do or don't like, and he'll sort it.

Great value and much better than some settings in a magazine.

you make it sound nice and easy!

most of the motogp guys and the wsb guys still cant tell their pit crews what their bikes are doing!:lol::lol:

Well yeah, but we're talking from "my god I thought it was going to spit me off on the hairpin" to "yes, that felt nice" difference and not 0.02s per lap difference, aren't we!

speak for yourself! :lol::lol::lol:

yes.........fair point, well made.

andyb 14-Feb-2005 13:15

Youll like this Antony, had it done for free at JHP!:lol:

andyb 14-Feb-2005 13:20

OH anyway Dickie, are you in this weeks MCN?:ninja:

antonye 14-Feb-2005 13:23

Well that's kind of the point Andy - it may have been setup for your weight in a shop, but it's only when you get out there and try it that it may feel right or wrong.

I always thought that mine felt fine out on the road until the suspension expert had a quick fiddle and it felt miles better!

And for £35 for the whole day, it's great to have some knowledgeable help so cheap - even if you do come away with the same settings!

andyb 14-Feb-2005 13:31

Now you see. I asked about having it set up "for my weight". However, according to god, the imput of your weight is minimal, compared to the forces on the suspension from the engine and brakes!

All suspension settings are a compromise, mines been set up by john, taking into account the experience of the last years testing and racing their 749!

antonye 14-Feb-2005 13:45

Yeah, unless you're under 11 stone or over 15, the weight is not that much of an issue on the (decent!) Ducati suspension.

It's good to know you've had it setup according to JHP's bike, but you may feel it a bit harsh/soft, and this is the point I'm trying to make - spending £35 on having it setup for YOU is money well spent.

andyb 14-Feb-2005 13:49

Wouldnt it be a good idea for one of those bike schools to do a suspension appreciation day!

You know, this one is set up to evidence this and again and again evidencing the feel of all the common suspension problems, so youd get to recognise these! Id go.........

antonye 14-Feb-2005 13:59

Too right. There's some good articles on the net about what each thing does, but it's knowing things like "adding two clicks of this means you need to add a click of that" which is the art!

andyb 14-Feb-2005 14:07

I wonder if say CSS would do something?

Say 10 of the r6's at Rockingham, all adjusted to example different suspension problems, including class room sessions.

Maybe a DSC type of day.................. Id pay the equivilent of a track day.
:eureka:

andyb 14-Feb-2005 16:40

well as a cosolation after deciding not to go till later in the month..plus a bit of grief from er indoors....Ive ordered a set of tyre warmers.

Ive gone for euroquip ones after borrowing Rattlers, and listening to the stories concerning other makes!

andyb 15-Feb-2005 19:32
