Getting the Frame painted

Anyone know of anyone in the South East who could paint a new 749S frame and a rough cost?????????

Cheers

Dibble 15-Feb-2005 14:14

Jobr,

Plenty of places for the painting, one of our members does powder coating and the like .. the real expense is getting the bike stripped so that the bare frame can be painted, then the cost of re-assembly.

Personally i imagine that would make it prohibitevely expensive unless you can do the strip down and rebuild ....

dickieducati 15-Feb-2005 14:35

although not particulary local, JHP did mine including the rear sub frame. it was part of other work but the painting alone is in the region of 200 quid i think.

Dibble 15-Feb-2005 14:39

Dickie,

Wasn't yours stripped and re-assembled as part of a warranty claim ?????

Thats where the real cost of this sort of work is ... the painting like you say, is a couple of hundred quid ....

dickieducati 15-Feb-2005 14:45

yes, mine was stripped for a number of reasons so that obviously saved a load of dosh. i think i heard you'd be talking 600 odd quid for the strip down and rebuild?

jobr 15-Feb-2005 15:06

Thanks for the replies, I am not mechanically minded so would have to have the lot done and £600 quid is probably a bit steep.:(

Frame painting

Hi jobr
Had my Guzzi frame hot zinc sprayed and then 2pack painted which means if the paint gets chipped the zinc stops it going rusty and travelling further under the paint and you only have too touch up the chips with spare matching colour.
may not matter on a Duc that only sees dry weather.
As for frame stripping its not rocket science just use a digital camera on every piece with the help of a good manual and this board.
I never done it till the Guzzi 3 years ago totally rebuilt it with the help of Haynes.
