RIDE HEIGHT TOOL

Does anyone know where in the UK to buy one?

How much do they cost?

The only place I have found is Australia :(

Dibble 15-Feb-2005 17:46

Skidlids has a template i believe .. u2u him ........

Harv748 15-Feb-2005 18:33

Try JHP...I think they are a little pricey for what they are...

As dibs says...if possible borrow one and then make your own!!!

Jasper 15-Feb-2005 18:43

I have a template and drawing.I have e-mailed you.

Dibble 15-Feb-2005 18:45

Hi Jasper

Received your email, you make it sound so easy.

"Made a template here's the drawing", how the hell do you make one?

Airfix models were my limit:puzzled:

Jasper 15-Feb-2005 19:54

Here's a pic of the ride height tool i made and the perspex "pattern" copied direct from the corse race tool.I am happy to post the pattern to anyone who would rather "trace" around the pattern than work from the engineering drawings i have.

Any chance of up loading the drawings.

Jasper

nelly 15-Feb-2005 22:15

Looks familiar

Jasper 15-Feb-2005 22:16

Why?

Mike Davis 15-Feb-2005 23:01

K-Tech sell them for about £60.00.

Not worth messing around for that price.

Jasper 15-Feb-2005 23:12

I agree!!But they didn't when i made mine!

Mr_S 15-Feb-2005 23:15

What would an engineering shop charge for one from these drawings?

Felix 16-Feb-2005 11:03

As Mike says, you can't beat the K-Tech deal. I wish that was around when I had mine made!

keith_mann1959 16-Feb-2005 11:15

For £60 i want one, any one have their phone number please.

Felix 16-Feb-2005 11:17

K-Tech

keith_mann1959 16-Feb-2005 11:22

Thanks
credit card at the ready...

Harv748 16-Feb-2005 11:37

Am I missing something here...but £60 (probably + VAT + postage) seems a lot to me for a bit of ally plate with 2 holes in!

I've used one of the genuine ones and its not rocket science. All thats important is the position of the two holes (which line up with the frame holes) and their relationship to the long top edge.

Surely a workshop would be willing to knock a load of simplified versions of these up for a darn bit less that £60 + a piece? All they need is a good guilatine, drill and material...15 minutes each tops?

Anyone have connections in the engineering/fabrication field?

Harv748 16-Feb-2005 11:52

In fact...sat here racking my brains its just occured to me that I have a good friend who's dad works in metal fabrication!!!

Gonna give him a call and get an idea of how much it would cost to knock a load out at 'mates rates'...!

Felix 16-Feb-2005 11:59

Harv, keep in mind that you need the bobbins as well, which need to have an accurate diameter (see Jasper's drawing). I am sure it can be done for slightly cheaper. To me it's not worth the time.

Harv748 16-Feb-2005 12:06

Yep...hear what you saying Felix about the bobbins...and I agree, probably not worth the grief for one or two...but if possible to make a big saving by getting a few made up at the same time and cutting out the middle man...may be worth while?

skidlids 16-Feb-2005 13:05

The original has locating bungs that expand to lock it in position, I have made a few and sold them for £30 using Delrin bungs that give a interferance fit. I have used one of the ones I made for a few years now, for the racing with differnt gearing for differnt tracks I have found it very useful.

Harv748 16-Feb-2005 13:11

Thats what I'm thinking of Kev...surely its possible to get a few made up and flog them for halve the price 'proper outlets' are asking for them.

Watch this space...

chris99 16-Feb-2005 13:33

Cool Harv. Keep us posted:D

Mr_S 16-Feb-2005 18:54

Me too, £30's a price I'd be happy to pay.

m1keyp 16-Feb-2005 19:22

If you have an australian friend £ 38.00

Jasper 16-Feb-2005 19:42

Where did my post go with the drawing dimensions?

Mr_S 16-Feb-2005 21:13

Dunno, but I copied them locally, just in case.
