Rip Off Britain

Just ordered some bits for my French built aircraft from the Dutch distrubuter, the manufacturers are refusing to supply him parts for a UK registered aircraft contrary to all EU competition practices. Prices from the UK distributer are at least 50% higher than ANY other european distributor!

Now, browsing through an old copy of MCN I see the following:

MotoGP test - Catalunya. March 19-29
Entry - FREE

World Superbike test - Valencia. March 12-13
Entry - FREE

BRITISH Superbike test - Donington. March 13
Entry - TEN Pounds (estimate)

Barstewards, is it any wonder this copuntry os going to the dogs?

Think I'm gonna go live in Spain.........

Rob B 19-Feb-2005 12:02

Don't get me started

dave w 19-Feb-2005 12:06

Or me

bradders 19-Feb-2005 12:14

just about to order some bits from the states....bar risers for £80 less than UK and radial m/c £100 less------says it all really!

andyb 19-Feb-2005 12:34

Dont forget youll need to add the import tax............... The couriers now police the import tax, plus they add an admin charge on for doing it! :barfy:

bradders 19-Feb-2005 12:38

still well short of UK price - even with p&p, tax and all, will save at least £90 on £280 purchase, means I can get both rather than 1 thing.

I love the internet!!

Which place in the usa did you use?

sorry but i've never understood this type of bleating ......... if its that bad .... leave quietly and close the door on your way out .... its a little draughty today .........

I totally agree with Yeti here! It wouldnt be so bad if we didnt have to pay for all the bludgers and parasites! (and im not talking about any imigration policy here!)

Bradders - check out an old post on Ebay tricks for importing stuff....

Getting someone to write on the parcel (if they are up for it) "Replacement parts under warrenty" usually results in ZERO import duty.

I think a similar trick might work for a gift but cant remember.

Dibbs !!! Cant believe you wrote that....

So you are happy paying VAT, petrol duty, stamp duty...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc ...etc !!!!!

Whereever you live you will be ripped off, it's just a different list of things in each country.

Also exchange rate distort the picture. If you want a better picture compare how much time it would take you to earn the purchase price in each country.

Rip-off Britain

How’s this for you

Last months list

Three parking tickets

The first of which was delivered while I was standing with my back to my car, by a fly by mopeded tos*er who luckily for him had sped off without introducing him self to me. £40

The second was received within three minuets on an industrial estate £50

The third was received while sitting in my car with the engine running, having pulled up to make a phone call
I opened my passenger window to inquire as to what the f**k he thought he was doing, he informed me that he had issued the ticket and if I drove off I was already fined.
I suggested that he should give me the ticket so that I could find a suitable place to ram it, at which point he asked me if I was assaulting him, I told him that at this time I was not assaulting him but I would be in the very near future, he radioed the police £70 and still on the run?

Two times in to red kens catch area without knowing £80

One flash for cash, £150 and three more points on their way (rolling down a hill again nutter)

Bill £390 this month and I ain’t been out on me bike yet

I have been living in my sh**hole of a country for forty years and I will mown about it as much as I like.

I bet not many of you don’t fall foul of the law while in pursuit of your daily lives this year.
Just remeber you are only one roll on in third away from jail :lol::lol::cool:

adam 20-Feb-2005 09:19

holy shmoly eric, sorry mate but i had to laugh at "he radioed the police £70 and still on the run?"

we live here so we all have the right to moan.

Ray 21-Feb-2005 10:21

Yeti,

If you can be bothered I think you may well find that under EU law what they are trying to do is illegal.

Ray.
