questions re: front number boards

I know this is a bit subjective, but thought I'd ask anyway.

My 996 has a painted front number board, which imo looks great.
The 998 has a thick stick on front board, supposedly made by DP (says Ducati Performance on it in Gold). I'm less taken by this one.

1) Did DP really make these stick on ones as I can't find them in any of the catalogues ?

2) Which number board do you lot think looks better - painted or stick-on ?

Cheers all,
John.

painted by far the best, cant stand the stick on ones.

chris99 22-Feb-2005 16:16

AFAIK The painted one will look far better but the stick on one wont chip

DP did not make stick on number boards and the painted variety look the best.

Walenut 22-Feb-2005 17:41

So who paints them?

madmav 22-Feb-2005 18:17

mick paints them on steve!

Frank 22-Feb-2005 18:21

what's the price differential?

Clippy 22-Feb-2005 18:29

I've got both - a stick on one on my 'proper' bodywork and one I've painted myself on my trackday fairing.

Horses for courses I reckon - I wouldn't paint one on the standard bodywork cos then it wouldn't be standard, but I admit that they don't look so great close up.

The trackday stuff came in white gel coat, so I've been playing with Halfords spray paint and the photo attached is the result (with the help of a few sponsor stickers too). Should all be finished soon...

I have a stick on one it was a bit of a sod to get on , I put it on to stop stone chips which it is good for. It has been on for about a year and is starting to lift in places I do think painted looks best

That`s because you don`t go fast enough to push it down properly:lol::lol::devil:

rcgbob44 23-Feb-2005 08:18

Thats a fine looking machine clippy.

Clippy 23-Feb-2005 09:55

Why thank you kind sir!

It will look even better when I've painted the seat unit and the RHS fairing to match, but it's a bit cold for painting in my garage at the moment!

Deej, I asked on another thread about silver tape on the down tube of the right side subframe and noticed yours looks like it has too, do you know why?

John W 23-Feb-2005 12:18
