I'm currently trying to raise the cash and talk the other half into one..... does that count :barfy: |
I do. |
Adam has one, and so does Dave Harris's brother now ....... Rattler USED to own one ..... |
Anyone any idea how many were produced with plaques and how many without ?? |
dont think I would buy one without...why make em??:puzzled: |
number 277 :D i think out of the 500 produced, the first 350 had plaques and 150 were without plaques and for racing.......could be wrong tho' |
Mine came without a plaque but i have a nice letter from Ducati customer services in Bologna, dated 2001 saying here is your authentic plaque, and its a low number as well. (could be because the bike was bought at the end of the season and the first owner was a Mr T Bayliss:lol:) |
The reason I asked, is that there is one for sale locally, absolutely immaculate but with no plaque :( and that is kind of putting me off. |
350 with plaques 150 without The 150 bikes without plaques were originally reserved for race teams. These 150 bikes had very minor engine differences (something about cylinder head cooling iirc), and as a result were the only true homolagtion bikes for WSB in 2001. But then, you'd need to be a bit of an anorak to know this :puzzled: Ian_km - buy it mate, you'll have one of the rarest Ducati's in Britain! Cheers! Scott |

I'm sure if you contact Ducati Uk or indeed the factory they could verify the validity by the engine and frame numbers. |
I bought a non plaqued one. Given the earlier discussion, I have asked Ducati, no reply as yet. I was told that the first 500 had plaques and then a further 150 were made later because of demand. The one I purchased was first registered in September 01. Those sold on the net went in March. The engine number on mine finishes in 507, so perhaps some truth in it. To be honest quite happy there is no plaque and it is definitely and without doubt an R. Looking at the manual on Duc's website, number 1-150 have a different manual that 151 and above. So perhaps the 150 for racing is correct and those that were not sold to race were sold later in 2001:puzzled: |

Smilo, Mine was registered Sept 2001 as well, engine number 562, but the plaque number is 209:puzzled::puzzled: |

Mine is number 11. July 2002 I think you will find that they made over 500. But only numberd with plaques 500 of them |
