L.E.D. rear lights Guys Currently working on a LED rear light for my 999 bip. with integral winkers. we have to run it yet but if you keep an eye on e-bay shop project-r it will be on sale in there once my freind jamie and i have sorted it out. and it will replace all that poo on the back. he also sells the clear light lenses for front and back if you like them!!!. Im just the guinea pig for this light and i thought you may be interested in it, as you have been talking about the subject in former threads. I'll try and get a picture on this site inside the next week. and yes i have been a member of this board and the DCS. for 2 years. |

Looks like a upside down R6 light ? |
smart boy! but your wrong. its an r6 light the right way up!!!. it looks alot smaller in real life , if you no what i mean. or maybe ive lost all context of size.:bouncy: |

Trev....Looks good mate... have you run the wires back through the tube ?? What you going to do about the indicators :puzzled: |
I still can't see what the point is , why not just buy a Nova ? :( |

If it's just for bling value I agree but if the bike only has a single bulb, like my 900ss or (I believe) the ST4s I'm about buy, then LED's have a few advantages. They don't suddenly blow and leave you in the dark with no rear light. They light up much quicker than incandescent filaments so when used for the brake light they prompt a quicker reaction from following traffic. |
sorry Davew been out to look at bikes. the cable connects into connector at the top of the tube (as the cable is captive). there is nothing in this kit that will not be reversable to the bikes normal state if you get my drift. the indicators are an integral part of this light. Derek if you view the bike from normal angles you see very little of the light. thats the main deal for me but i know where you are comming from as i have read many articles on this. Yellowisfriedegg The standard lights comes off a pan european top box thats the point. But then again everyone likes something different thats why all bikes look diff. i think there called corsa's now!!! |
Trevor, You're right, LED arrays alone are very directional and shouldn't be used for tailights and directional indicators. However, when the LEDs are placed behing a lens designed to spread the light over a wider viewing angle, there's no problem. Since these lights come off an R6, the lights have to meet each country's regulatory requirements for brightness, visibility etc. so this set-up presents no problems. |
Looks great are they legal or will plod pull you ??:puzzled: |
Road Runner Do'nt think the plot would have any reason for pulling you. not sure if they would pass M.O.T. but my mate who sells these has had people phone him back and tell him that the lights pass through M.O.T. |
not sure on the carpet mate?:( |
axminster £30/m we did'nt like it thats why its in my garage. |
:barfy: |
Sorry to hear that mate. Looks alot better when its on becouse its red if you know what i mean. problem is that you have to chose a light with alot of L.E.D'S in them to make the light bright behind the lense. one line is no good for running/brake lights, and are not normally looked upon kindly by the police. when you veiw the bike from the normal more elevated angle you can hardly see it, which works well. any suggest on another light i can try would be nice. have try'd new R1 light but to wide. thanks for input. Trevor:eureka: |
Trevor when is your man going to have some for sale? What sort of price once you factor in the DSC discount?:D:D:D Cheers [Edited on 10-3-2005 by jobr] |
Dseered Never mind constructive crit mate. Its only a bit of a project and i can go back to normal. Have a set of clear leanses with L.E.D. rear running/brake light and amber bulb winkers and you are right they are smart. (hanging on my wall at the moment). My freind over here in Norfolk is the one who sells them on e-bay under project-r (e-bay shop) but thought i would try somthing dif to get rid of the winkers. if i could blank out my reg no i would put a picture up. the winter evenings fly by over here. |
jobr My mate has put them up on his e-bay shop (project-r). to be ready in april i've got to run it for a while yet, still a bit of development left |
Trevor999. I've fitted the LEDs into the reflector behind the standard lens. See here: http://ducatisportingclub.com/xmb/vi...6342#pid144590 No probs with veiwing angle or brightness but I know what you mean. |
Personally, I actually quite like the standard rear lights, but if somebody came up with a neater solution to the fitting/ heat-sink arrangement it would look a whole lot better. Anybody seen anything like that? |
Wylie1 have a red led light set that is my mates. you just take out the bulb and reflector and it looks great. e-mail my mate on e-bay shop preject-r and he may be able to help. |
