nose cones? I thought I was onto a lead for an S4 challenge nose cone, but it turns out I was barking up the wrong tree, peeing in the wind, flogging a dead horse, etc... So, does anyone have a lead, or better still a supply, of nose fairings for a monnie that don't have the headlight cutout? What are you M6** riders doing about displaying the front number? All suggestions gratefully received! n |
Put a barn door on the front Nick should give a good drag coefficient :frog: |
Cones? You wanna have a word with Dribble! He comes from an Italian background and we all know they have a long tradition of producing some very tasty cones ;) |
so when I saw 2 replies to my bid for help, I thought... Great, some sensible people... sadly, I'm not always right! :( |
Seriously? You wanna get one of Pete's old leather and wood pudding basin crash helmets, paint it white and strap that on in place of a headlight :saint: |
Nick, what you want is some lead fashioned into a cone shape - about 2 and a half inches thick should do. Although you will need to 'brace' the mounting points so that they are 4 inches thick. Ideally you will want this covering as low as the front cylinder head right round over the top of the clocks to a height of approximately 2 foot. HTH TP [Edited on 26-2-2005 by tp-996] |
Would not simply using a fly-screen be acceptable ??? (thought I'd better a post a semi-sensible answer) :D |
A motorcross style board would do it  |

Domski you're a leg-end! Hadn't thought of that... I'll have a look at some mx bits bodywork! thanks chap :D |
washing up bowl looks good.:sing::sing::sing: |
And the hits just keep on comin' |
have a word with nattboy he's having some s4 challege fairings made |
Jhp are having both nosecones and bellypans made, our FO5's came with them direct from Ducati Corse as i'm sure you can imagen!!! |

Butch, is John doing a seat unit as well? I'm planning on taking ALL the bodywork off so I can put all shiney gear back on at the end of the series - my wife has spoken, she wants the bike! |
another idea - and cheap - would be a flyscreen from a Honda Hornet Racer. most race fibregalss providers should be able to come up with one as its been a popular class for a number of years now |
thanks all of you, or rather some of you! I have some ideas now... like the thought of the Hornet screen, thanks old man, will follow that one up. |

Yep - I spoke to a couple of the Hornet racers in Cartagena and got details of the supplier. In fact the supplier was there as they were sponsoring a 125GP effort. I'll dig the exact name out later and post it up. Tim:frog: |
WHAT ABOUT SEAT UNITS!!! There, I feel better now ... |
Quote:
Who cares? ;) |
Tim's name is now added to an increasingly growing list .... |
Seriously though, what are you lot doing for seat units? Leaving the standard ones on? I spoke to JHP yesterday and Dave is having one custom made for him which they will do a few of but what is everyone else doing? I need some inspiration. |
I'm planning on leaving the original seat unit on, although i do like the look of the s4 challenge DP carbon seat. Bit bling for my budget tho! |

What are they worth? Got a pic? |
tony, aren't you picking up your finished seat unit tomorrow complete with number boards etc?..................... ..........oh no, my mistake, thats me! :D |
Don't know how much they retail at tony, but some things I only have to LOOK at to know I can't afford it! |

I'll be expecting to see some photo's of that fitted by the way! |

There doesn't appear to be much material there, surely it can't be that much? Do we know anyone who has one? If so we can get some copies made or something. Questions, questions, questions ... |
Don't know for sure, but i think Natty might be on the case already. I'm sticking with what I've got so like timothy says - i don't care! And you can't add me to your list cos I'm sure I'm already on it  |

i think its hard to get hold of one, and the clock is ticking to get a mould made up and copies done. |

In France, when I rode my M600 on track, I used the stuff you put on plates in your microwave when you don't want all to be dirty. A white one is just perfect to display your number. And it fits very well on the existing points of the Monster. http://a.josserand.free.fr/img/image...4/p1010298.jpg |
lmao:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: no one........and i repeat, no one, can ever accuse the DSC of being elitist, ever! |
That's superb! Tonio, you obviously have Blue Peter in france! |
Do they do them in carbon? ;) |
Yes but it's only sold with the Magnesium Microwave  |
Hi chaps..as Nick says im on the case with getting copies of my own S4 challenge carbon nose cone in fibre glass..already sourced some hi level DP screens for them..fingers crossed. As for the £300 (yes..£300 :o) S4 Challenge carbon seat unit, I have managed to get hold of some of these which I will offer to desmoduers at £85 if its of interest..im picking the next batch up tommorrow but sadly ther all going straight out again to some other desmosduer's! (youll all be matching at this rate !!)...if you are interested in me getting some more let me know. They are genuine ducati performance ones from the factory (like mine attached) but are unstickered. They also come with thick carbon mounting brackets.. Cheers! So Nat, will that replace the entire seat unit that's on there now? Will I need to find a seat pad etc or will these do the lot? |
Hi Mate This slips over the std seat unit (see previous pics of S4 challenge bike) so youll not need anything else..the carbon brackets utilise the same mounting points as the standard seat cowl.. Cheers Nat |
Darn and drat - i'm fiddling with the front of Max now and I ain't having any bright ideas yet to fit it in with my standard screen - with hole for headlamp- Hmmmmm. :sniff: I've about 20 cardboard templates made and i've given up for a cup of coffee. Nbs - you are not alone ;) |
