1 to 1 tution

Hi Guys,

I've been toying with the idea of 1 to 1 tuition as listed below:

I would like any feedback you have please.

All the best

Andy

Thank you for your interest in our 1 to 1 day. It is our intention to keep this exclusive to those of you on our e mail list.

This is the format, price and circuit we will be looking at:

Circuit : Darley Moor

Format: Open pit lane, 8 Students with 8 Instructors (1 to 1).

Two different days, those who are Level 4 or racing/fast group track day and those who are new to the school or Levels 1, 2 or 3.

Bikes: Our bikes including in the price. Darley Moor has a noise limit which means if you want to use your bike is MUST HAVE A STANDARD CAN on it. There is no discount for using your own bike.

Date: July/August TBC

Cost: £1499.

Let me know!

psychlist 01-Mar-2005 14:25

Fantastic idea!

Just way outa my price league I'm afraid!

dickieducati 01-Mar-2005 14:35

great idea, but WAY too rich for me.

i would far rather do 4 level 4 days. maybe on different circuits maybe with different weather conditions.

i think if i paid 1500 quid and it was cold wet and windy i would be wanting to slit my wrists.

JPM 01-Mar-2005 14:39

Andy,

I have to admit I'm with the others, from a cost point of view it seems to rich for my blood, and it's Darley Moor also, so little facilities on-site also.

As dickie has said I'd rather do 4 days in larger groups, I did level 1 last year and thoroughly enjoyed it, and will do levels 2 and possibly 3 this year also.

Andy Ibbott 01-Mar-2005 15:10

Thank you guys,

So what if it was half?
Say 7 x 30 mins sessions with one instructor during your track time?
It would mean 2 groups so there would be limited 'off track' debrefing but lots on on track tuition/following/help

What sort of money would this be? If I had the option of 2 days at Darley 1 to 1 or 2 days at Laguna for a similar amount of money, I know which one I would choose.

Dibble 01-Mar-2005 15:19

Freak,

Go see ...

I am in discussion with Andy Ibbot at the minute .....

Lily 01-Mar-2005 15:24

I am not certain I would get that much more benefit from 1-1 as i did from the normal CSS day.

Maybe a bit more time would be good, but i couldn't justify that much dosh.

deffo interested in Laguna options though :D

Andy Ibbott 01-Mar-2005 15:25

That will be why we have Leon Camier and Thomas Luthi coming to us! :)

Again fair comments. The circuit is always the issue as they are so damned expensive.

I will keep at it!

Andy

dickieducati 01-Mar-2005 15:32

andy, sorry to go off thread, but while you're here whatever happened to the 'race' days to did i think you only did the one. would have been of great interest to me and possibly many of the desmodue racers for this year.

JPM 01-Mar-2005 15:35

Just looked at the US CSS site, just under $1200 for 2 days with their 636 bike, so probably about £700, but you still need flights, transport from SF to Monterey (roughly 2 hours) and accomodation, food etc.

Andy Ibbott 01-Mar-2005 15:38

Hi Dickie,

Same problem, cost. I could run one at Darley Moor but not any where else in the UK, even Spain for that matter. It would be about £700 and need 14 riders to work.

Andy

dickieducati 01-Mar-2005 15:44

now for me that would make more sense and to be fair i wouldnt be surprised if you got a few people from here for it. dave cook highly recommended it. could something like that be run further south? it seems most of the people for instance in the desmo series and more southerly biased?
i know as you say the cost is the problem but places like snetterton not any good.?

dickieducati 01-Mar-2005 15:52

derbyshire is north isnt it?

Andy Ibbott 01-Mar-2005 15:54

Darley Moor is norf
www.darleymoor.co.uk

2 Miles South Of Ashbourne...

The Darley Moor race circuit is situated on the A515 Ashbourne to Lichfield road, approximately 2 miles south of Ashbourne. Travelling from the picturesque Derbyshire town of Ashbourne, the circuit entrance is on the left just before the turning to Snelston. Approaching Darley Moor from the south, the entrance is on the right 150 metres after the right turn to Yeavley.

JPM 01-Mar-2005 15:56

Yep Darley is about 30 mins from Lily's place, cobbled streets and all...

thats quaint ..... :)

Lily 01-Mar-2005 16:00

from what i have seen of it it ain't far off cobbled!!

not really the sort of place i fancy learning new techniques.... call me a scared bird if you want, but i like somwhere with a nice big run off if I get it wrong and we all know thats possible.... (don't we Mr Ibbot :P )

TP 01-Mar-2005 16:01

Andy,

That's similar money for what I'm paying for the 2 day camp in Almeria, which I would MUCH prefer.

I can't see the financial viability for that sort of money in one day for me.

TP

Andy Ibbott 01-Mar-2005 16:19

Yes,

I don't seem like a bit of a dead end on this one. The Code RACE is a brilliant day but some people don't want the race bit.

More thought required!

Thank you for the excellent feedback guys. Now get back to work! LOL :D

Dibble 01-Mar-2005 17:17

Steve,

Yes you must start at level 1 but do it - its well worth it. I've done levels 1 & 2 and managed to get all the way through the first half of level 2 before I crashed

Monty 01-Mar-2005 17:53

Andy the 'code race' that you did would probably be a better option for most people.
I 'supported' our own Dave Cook on one of those and his instructor was-Andy himself.
Mind you I seem to remember he ended up sleeping in the spare room that night-in his exitement he mentioned the 'race' word-major slap from Mary............

Steve M 01-Mar-2005 17:53

I've done plenty of racing in the past, but now it's almost entirely road riding, with 1 or maybe 2 track days a year.

Is it still worth me doing the CSS?

I guess this could apply to lots of people.

:)

Steve I would say yes, you will learn something for sure, I guess it all depends on what you have experienced already. I haven't raced so cannot really comment on that, but I've been doing track days for years and I learnt a hell of a lot, which you could use on or off the track.

You have to start at level 1, so why not just do that one, if you come away and think you gained nothing then fair enough, don't do any more, if not get the rest booked up
