Hooray Hooray Big bore on its way.................. Just had a phone call from Dave at JHP BB kit will be at my house Tommorow........................................ just got to fit and organise a round trip to Paris to run her in.... Phil |
Just remember how you're supposed to run her in Phil, half your normal oil, MUST be fully synthetic and agressively use the entire rev range, from cold throughout the whole trip. Should bed in nicely ;) |
Yep mine too - will be with me tomorrow ;) |
Phil, tony's absolutely right. You need to be getting some speed into them new rings else they just won't get up to their proper heat range. Tony, remind me again how thick my lead fairing should be? [Edited on 1-3-2005 by NBs996] |

At least 2 inches, 4 inches at mounting points etc likely to be under more stress. Always happy to help :D |
Don't forget another great way to run in the bore liners is to put a handful of sand into the oil. You might also want to speed it up by dropping some shingle into the plug holes as well (although ball bearings will be better if you've got some). Hope this helps, |
Tony u r a font of good advice Now how many litres of mecury did u say the hump on my leathers needs..? Phil.. Ps..i run fully strained chicken fat in mine.........i got litres if you need it...its great |
1L should do in the hump, let me know if you need a hand. Don't forget your spare leathers! Did I mention the boot 'protectors'? |
LOL... And u think you are putting air in those new tyres of yours LMAO.... Phil |
Nitrogen - unsprung weight and all that!! |

I understand that adding sugar to the petrol helps the rings bed in nicely too. |
and if you really want to do it properly, make sure you whip the rockers out & polish them with a nice abrasive tool!:D C:) |
Big bore arrived! Yayyyyy!! :D:D:D No gaskets..... :(:(:( Almost ready to go!! :D:D:D Million things to do.... :(:(:( Racing less than two months away!! :D:D:D Most excellent. |
Ah, gaskets - thats one thing Al remembered to check when ordering his BB kit:smug: He wanted me to ask - has anyone else completely stripped their engine down??? :puzzled: C:) |

Not yet..... keep seeing gravel flying past the oil sighting window so I'm not going to either! I was considering a complete strip down, but Tony Brancato assures me that the loud knocking from the front cylinder is due to the short piston skirt, not the valves punching their way through the piston crown.....
