Jammster, robbing, exploiting, \"Bees\"

Can anyone help me get my sons moby unsubscribed from Jammster.
He is really upset because some one sent his number to jammster (Or perhaps he did it, he's only ten!) for a ringtone. He accepted the message without reading properly and now he has to pay £3 per month for the use of a ringtone!
Best thing is I have all the software to download tones for him.
How do I unsubscribe for him?
Otherwise he cant use the phone that I gave to him as it takes all his credit immediately as soon as he puts it on.:flame:

Normally you text the word "remove" to the number you subscribed too.

kwikbitch 02-Mar-2005 22:16

We dont know the number...we dont even know who "Jammster" are?
He only knows it because he read that part of the message!:(

There we are - what a club :D

Thanks everyone for your help :)
After calming down I found the website anyway...MTV? apparently Cartoon Network too! (according to my little poppet...we dont have MTV).
How the HELL do they expect kids to read and understand the terms and conditions?...It's obviously aimed at teenagers who are fleecing their parents for the credit for their "pay as you go!".

They don't.

Sadly, it's the latest way to make easy money now everyone's wise to premium rate calls etc. Ringtones are massive business, and there's a fair few sharks in the water.

If you get any grief over cancellation, go to your cellular provider.

You can also get premium text services barred along with premium number if you like ( provider cannot refuse this apparently.

yep, this happened with my daughters mobile, in the end i just snapped her sim card in half and got her another one.....as KB says its unreasonable to expect kids to read the conditions of the ad`s on channels such as cartoon network !

Jools 03-Mar-2005 11:35

Don't Cartoon Network have some responsibility here? Surely they know their audience demographic? Must be some sort of regulatory body for these channels. Sounds like a job for Watchdog.

Steve 03-Mar-2005 15:02

Just had exactly the same problem, spoke to a chap at Jammster who confirmed we had put a stop on the phone and even refunded the cost of the text messages
