foggy ?

what you think about Carl Foggy slamming old git Franky, saying his no good on the brakes any more, I say hes a Fu***ing site better than he is now. I don’t like it when he picks on the old man, He don’t deserve it.
:barfy:

NBs996 04-Mar-2005 00:39

I not expert enough to agree or disagree with Fog's comments about another riders ability, but you don't have to better than someone to criticise them. If that was the case then pretty much every sports coach would be out of a job!

Haven't seen this piece about what Foggy says, but from the chat, it sounds to me like he wasn't being too constructive?

ericthered40 04-Mar-2005 01:19

Foggy said that Franky was finished as a contender now and that he couldn’t pass anyone on the brakes. But he is still out there taking a sixth (Fifth) place in the second race. on a new bike at the first round of the year. I just think it was a bit harsh when Foggy hasn’t been out in the pack for years and Franky, s been there all the time entertaining.
I’ve always been a Foggy fan but just mite be a touch of envy in this bit of coaching.
Fog’s not he’s coach Just his old racing adversary just can't see way he can’t say well done just for still being out there showing just how good you can be a forty year old.
:sniff: sorry bit p**ed last night:lol:

I think you'll find he took 5th - passing many riders on the brakes to do so :)

bradders 04-Mar-2005 11:45

wasnt he talking about winning the championship? Do you think frankie is as aggressive as vermulen for example?

I think this is the comparison he was making - altho it wasnt very flattering and really said the old man shouldnt be there any more!

Totto 04-Mar-2005 11:46

Never did listen to Foggy , so not gonna start now :D

FiscusFish 04-Mar-2005 11:53

Was it bought up at the AGM about Fogarty still being Honorary President?

Jools 04-Mar-2005 12:40

Foggy took all his World Championships when I had other things occupying my time, so I didn't really take much notice of racing then. So, I never got to form my own opinion of Foggy as a racer, except that to win as many championships as he did, he must've been a bit good on a bike.

So my main impression is of Foggy as he is now, and I have to say I find it rather sad that he sees fit to slam today's racers with such monotonous regularity.

Surely he's got nothing to prove?

I think the mark of a true champion is to bow out at the top of your game, even if forced through injury, then offer support and encouragement to people who are still racing. That way, the public perception is that you're magnanimous, big hearted and an iconic father figure to the sport. A legendary ambassador who gives the sport a great public image.

It's all to easy to come across as a mean spirited, spiteful, whining little has been.

ziggi 04-Mar-2005 12:45

I can understand what Fogarty is doing - he is mentally comparing himself to Frankie. He was one of his main competitors in his years at WSB and probably looks on Frankie as a benchmark as to where he would be himself if he was still racing.

Frankie did well to get 5th at Qatar with a new bike. I wonder if Fogarty can see just how good he still is and is a little envious of it.

TP 04-Mar-2005 13:04

There's a much simpler answer to all of this and why Foggy says stuff like that, but I dare not post it.

It is called keeping yourself in the limelight. Any publicity is good publicity??

DC.:burn:

crm250 04-Mar-2005 23:19

frankie for president !! :burn:
what is it with foggy, every time he opens his mouth these days he just alienates people. why do people like this (talent or no talent) go like this when they achieve success ?
used to enjoy watching him ride, but even back then with frankie on the corona suzuki was far more entertaining.
even if frankie is slowing down i think he rides with such passion and enjoys it win or lose. i just wish that when in front he wouldnt look behind as thats when he loses the plot

cashburning748r 05-Mar-2005 11:32

Pound for pound when it comes to entertainment 'chilli' wins hands down. I know that's not the point of the thread but I can't stand foggy anymore. He was ok while he was riding but now has taken to talking...yawn.

I am a patriot, honest, but given the opportunity to have a beer with foggy or chilli it would chilli every time.

Foggy is just too 'self promotional' for me, always talking about himself and what he used to do. I no longer view him as an authority in todays racing world and avoid articles written by him.

Didnt realise he was the president of anything to do with ducati and feel confident that I will forget just as quick as i found out.

888heaven 05-Mar-2005 20:13

Of all the people ive meet through Ducatis in/out of the Club the most respected by people has been Chili.
especially when hes attended CSS and signed many a Ducati for owners.
All though a fan of Foggys I have to admit this was a pretty poor comment for someone over 40 still getting in the top 10 at this level, theres millions of sub 30y olds that could'nt match Chili.
this probably stems from his punch up with Chili after cutting him up at the last corner at SBK round, the track and date which eludes me.

andyb 05-Mar-2005 20:15

Yeah, hes out of date....just like the bike he used to ride! :o:devil:

He only asked for one!

Rattler 05-Mar-2005 23:30

Sounds like publicity seeking to me, or a journalist with a tendancy to misquote????

bradders 05-Mar-2005 23:32

publicity for his team I'd imagine, needs all the help he can get with the loss of his best rider (who I hope wins this year!) and all the japs coming back theyll be no where near a podium all year

how long before his budget is pulled?

bradders 05-Mar-2005 23:59

for you fans out there....
