tempted, very tempted

andyb 05-Mar-2005 19:49

What will you do if it rains? I find it very difficult to commit to a date in advance with the weather the way it is. This would be 10 mile up the road for me, but.............am i wrong?

Harv748 05-Mar-2005 22:22

I'm the same Andy...nowadays, unless its the middle of a serious sunny spell, I wait as close as poss to the day before booking.

I'll do the same with this one toooooo:D

bradders 05-Mar-2005 22:27

roll on summer - its gonna be a scortchaaaaa!

Mr_S 05-Mar-2005 23:09

Bradders, you could borrow my wets for this TD. Just in case :)

I can't do this TD as the inlaws are moving house that weekend (just around the corner :( )

BTW, unlike when you borrowed Rattlers, mine are on rims with discs...

bradders 05-Mar-2005 23:23

theres an offer...

andyb 06-Mar-2005 22:44

Fil2 wasnt it you that sat in a van with me at T/A 1 Mallory, and didnt want to get your bike out...........so you used Weeksys?

and Dibble,i understand when it rains the slip road can be just that................ :P

Dibble 06-Mar-2005 22:46

i think this says it all mate ......

andyb 06-Mar-2005 22:48

Why the 3 stars? Is it something to do with McDonalds........

andyb 06-Mar-2005 22:52

Rockingham t/a 3..when it rained and rained......

(Obviously if this offends the photographer i would remove it)

[Edited on 6-3-2005 by andyb]

Dibble 06-Mar-2005 22:56

it drizzled at TA3, I was there ... it rained at TA1 ... and Brands where that pic was taken .... and the attached one ...

and the three stars .. one for each of Italys Football World Cup wins ......

andyb 06-Mar-2005 23:00

You have to admit, particularly at Rockingham on the 'smooth' surface, the enjoyment is curtailed by the rain, and i openly admit, its an awful lot of money to drop on to the tarmac.

Dibble 06-Mar-2005 23:03

i agree .. i threw it down the road in the third session trying to keep up with Skidlids .... it was only after returning to the pits that i realised he had his wets on ..... :(

andyb 06-Mar-2005 23:06

Probably not your best angle?

Dibble 06-Mar-2005 23:12

probably is ...........

andyb 06-Mar-2005 23:13

;)

andyb 06-Mar-2005 23:14

:P:roll: dont you just hate that.

andyb 06-Mar-2005 23:17

I think i might perspire to the dizzy lows...........

Right more track days! Ive got Tuesday booked off, ive got a van sorted, ive got the ramp, F/events have spaces at Donny................

andyb 06-Mar-2005 23:20

I havnt even mentioned at T/a3 you were using the other arfs vfr...........:o

I have one of those in the melting pot, thatll hopefully come off at a snippet of a price for a track bike.

Lily 07-Mar-2005 10:05

andy

i agree to a degree and don't like booking events if it might rain, but with the weather these days even mid summer you can't be certain anyway.

One of the things we do is try to book the cheaper ones out of 'summer' so its not such a big hit if it does rain. Its pretty hard on week days as Freak loses money as well as paying out for track day and van hire etc.

Problem is these days more and more people are doing track days and for weekend ones they book up quickly so you need to book early if you are keen.

£95 is a bargain for silverstone (even if it is only the national) we did CSS there last year and hope to use this day on the same circuit to remind us of what we learnt.

I agree totally...........weekend at silverstone for 95 quid is worth the risk. ..summer is no guarantee of dry track days either.

JPM 07-Mar-2005 10:34

Like Lily has said for me, and I suspect others on here, in the week I lose at least a days pay, then pay for the track day, the van hire, tyres, fuel, food, those kind of sundry items.

In the week it works out at a loss of around £700 per track day.... so £95 in comparison is a bargain, I'll take the risk.

Weekends, and certain tracks book up months in advance, if you want to ride them you have to book them early, and there's no predicting the weather at any time of year in this country.
