Pics of my baby, post winter work... Well here she is, after some winter time and money. Stuff done, SP4 ohlins forks and yokes fitted, harris bars with renthal grips, brembo 18mm radial master cylinder, itg filter, all head and swinger bearings stripped and cleaned/re greased ( do they really only put this little bit of grease in at the factory??!!) and an ohlind rear shock. The shock was a brand new boxed ebay bargain, 250 quid, but it's for a monster. So I had to remove the radiator overflow tank from under the seat to position the reservoir because the hose is too short to reach up to the back of the subframe. I now have a race style overflow bottle tacked to the side of the rad on the right. Did a trackday at Donignton last week, she handles lovely, if a little slow steering. As you can see, I had no money left for decent tyres so had to ride with ropey 5 year old Bridgestone road tyres, on a freezing cold track, mmm nice! Slidetastic! Still was doing around 1.20's on the national circuit, not bad. HAve done 1.13's round here on my racebike so I was reasonably pleased. The bset thing though was the constant flow of visitors to the garagre to gawp. The comments I received all day were 'you're not gonna take this out are you?' and ' I would cry if I binned this', and best of all 'if this was mine I would keep it in the lounge and just look at it.' 888's eh, people love 'em! :D |

Make the voices stop! |
Damn straight, the voices are costing me soooo much money.... |
I have the voices - telling me to buy a 888SPx of some description ... :( |
Nah you just want a strada with SP forks, and spend the rest of the cash on beer, drugs and women etc.....:bouncy: |
I've just merged all your pictures onto one thread RightSaidFred. Makes it much easier to view from one thread, and any replies you may get. Nice 888 by the way, am also a fan. :D Mark aka Flanks. DSC Webteam. [Edited on 4-3-2005 by Webteam] |
Cheers Mark. Is there an easier way to post a thread with more than one pic? |
Indeed there is. Only problem, the picture will need to be already on the internet. 1 way to do this is to sign up to an online picture gallery. Save the pictures there. There are several about. I'm sure someone from here will suggest 1. Save the pictures there. Once saved, right click on the image you want to post, and highlight the url and copy. On here, on a new message, you click the image icon, then paste the file name in the box that appears. then click post reply. |
Or ..... You could just click on the Post Reply under the last post and use the Attachment field by clicking on the Browse button to it's right and locating your picture .... then you don't need to have it hosted. |
Tried that, it only lets me put in one pic at a time. Although it might be my computer, it usually stiches me up! So you don't have an SPx, what do you have, a strada? Come on let's see a pic! |

The voices will never stop TP.... :rodent::"Jools...your life won't be complete without owning a T8 one day" Jools: "Told ya TP" |

I have a 996. You can only put in once pic per post, so put your pic in one, then click on Post Reply and do it again ... then they all stay in the same thread. I hear ya Jools, but it's not just the 888SPx the voices keep going on about. |
Or as TP says! Just hit reply on each thread you've attached a picture to. You can only have 1 attachment per post. |
Righto...then it's me not the computer duhhh....anyway what you reckon of my bike then? Any tips of other things to do? Really I would like to raise the rear somehow to get it to turn better, i've heard that Sp's have a different linkage at the top of the shock to adjust the ride height, or is there another way? |
:D Ah Narfuk will ring to the sound of 888`s this summer :sing: |
RSF Ring Carl Harrison,He`s a bit of a 851/888 specialist now and only half an hour away from you. It`s a bit of a :pig: of a job as you`ve got to take all the weight off your swingarm, but`s straight forward enough to raise the rear. You`ll have to come out for a beer with me,rooney, dodgy etc when this snow clears:eureka: |
Cheers sparkin. Got a number and location for Carl Harrison? That would be great. Yep Naarfuk will indeed be noisy this year! Would love to meet up with some of you guys soon, not in the snow tho! Just been out in it actually, got this old volvo estate as a spare car, rear wheel drive, round the lanes of Norfolk, what a laugh! Do you guys meet up at pubs on any particular days etc? Next time you're out let us know, send a u2u or something.:D |

Looks great mate ! See youve done a quick release fastener conversion...great idea and saves arsing about with an allen key for half an hour..how did you do this..easy ? Also..im loving that stainless floor...:D where did you get it..?!! Nat |
The quick release fasterner conversion was easy. It was already done when I got the bike!! But, it looks quite easy Nat. The females are put over the holes inside and then you have to drill two small holes top and bottom, and then use two small rivets to keep them in position. Then the males just go in a quarter turn obviously. It does look good and is so much easier to undo the fairings. The stainless floor on the bench was also done when I got it (there's a theme here...) a mate of mine works at a truck factory and makes these benches in his spare time. I think he has all those bits floating round at his work. |
that shape is really growing on me....nice. |
