multistrada display misting

i own an ex-demo 03 multistrada which has had its fair share of problems but have allways been sorted fairly quickly buy my local dealer Veloce, i keep reading references to dashboard misting and am concerned that i may have a problem with mine, over the 10 months i have owend the multibeast the dash has misted several times but always cleared at various speeds, is this something i should be concerned about, any thoughts appreciated, the warrenty is due to exspire in the next month or so. :puzzled:

dave s 08-Mar-2005 10:27

There has been a problem with the displays on the multi's misting over and as far as i know they have been changed under warranty so my advice would get it changed while you can.:)

JPM 08-Mar-2005 11:14

It's only held together with several plastic clips, inside the assembly is a small rubber seal, could be that...

and also some monsters too!

My M1000 had the same - clocks changed under warranty by dealer, no probs at all:)
(M750ie had the same prob - replacement clocks on that too!)

C:)

TP 08-Mar-2005 11:35

My 620 clocks did that - they dried out on Sunday but it was definitely annoying!

Tantrum992 08-Mar-2005 18:29

its unanimous then, back to the dealer on saturday for a new dash, thanks for your comments/advice:smug:

sparkin 08-Mar-2005 19:35

Been there,done that:P;)

The problem is Simon,if it mists up to bad the bike will stop!I had three on mine in six months. The later ones have different seals fitted and a resistor type thingy to make the fuel guage react slower as it swills around the tank(especially when passing 998`s:lol::lol: )
The first sign is normally the green indicator warning light in the dash staying on.Go see John or ring him and tell him what`s happened,it`s only a ten minute job to change, three bolts and a key reprogramme,he can do it with his eyes shut he`s done so many:lol:

MARTIN H 09-Mar-2005 01:09

Yes, mines just started doing it now! Faint green light showing and the display virtually unreadable. Knowing the problems with these units I have done everything I can to keep it dry. I am now expecting the bike to develop the famous brake shudder everyone talks about!

Tantrum992 09-Mar-2005 18:39

Martin H

which green light is showing ?:puzzled:

sparkin 09-Mar-2005 18:42

The one which tells you you are indicating!

Tantrum992 09-Mar-2005 19:47

ah ! thanks mate

hows the triple 8 doing, you got a new battery on it yet ?
are you planning on doing snetterton ?

Glyn 09-Mar-2005 20:32

totaly different i assume
but same on my st2.
i dismantalled the little bugger and resealed the whole unit with clear silicone(bathroom sealent). did the job :eureka:

sparkin 09-Mar-2005 21:12

Afraid not Glyn Mate, the numpty uses the ST3 dash.no bulbs as such,if any of the warning lights go Pete Tong it`s a "chuck the lot away job"Then reprogramme the keys to match, the unit is totally sealed:( so if you`re out of warranty............................

As for Snetterton,I would really like to as it`s a saturday and I wouldn`t have to take time off work, but I just don`t have the spare cash at the moment:( The trouble is I can`t see work picking up for a month or to,then my overtime is a month behind.I also want to start saving for WDW2006:o:D

Tantrum992 11-Mar-2005 18:41

New dash is on order, so that should be sorted within the next couple of weeks. Really shoud`nt go in to sort these problems as i always something shiney that would look good on the MS, carbon fibre fuel filler cover/billet cap, nice but soooooo exspensive:roll:

BDG 12-Mar-2005 01:30

I took mine down to the Sahara desert for a couple of weeks to dry mine out:D

Worked a treat but Ducati UK still haven't settled up the cost of curing it, wonder why?:puzzled:
