Just had a Car nicked (Be aware when selling) Some Checky Barsteward has just made off in a car I was selling. He rang up out of the Autotrader came over from Wigan (So he says) He was looking at my car obviously the car was running as he'd been looking under the bonnet etc. Then he sat in the drivers seat fiddled with a few switches, threw it in 1st gear and spun off never to be seen again  As ive not long set up my business this is a real dent in my trading Money. Thing is it was a only a £1700 406 HDI. I called the Police straight away, who circulated it but I dont hold out much hope :mad::mad::mad::mad: |
How did he get to your house? |
Really sorry to hear this :flame: hope that you get lucky and they catch the thieving scumbag |

He came over by Taxi from Wigan, Althought I never actually saw a taxi. I have printed off a list of all taxi firms and private hires in Wigan to see if any had done a run to Chorley. I've drawn a blank there though, So im going to try the Taxi Ranks in Wigan tomorrow hand a flyer out to all the Drivers. Gotta be worth a try. [Edited on 17-3-2005 by Mr C] |
I think you're close to Manchester. If so give me the reg and colour and i'll call it out over the works radio. We've got 45 vehicles so there is a slight chance it may get spotted if its just happened. |

OK i'll call it out. why not try ringing a few taxi companys and offering £100 to any driver who spots the car and tracks it. Sorry about that happening. |

Thanks alot for the offer Mav I'm ok for transport. Gets worse though as I had been showing him the Doc's and service history etc Which he also drove off with. I really dont have a leg to stand on. Hopefully he will try to sell it as a legit car as he has all the paperwork, if that happens it will no doubt serface very soon. Its a lesson learned the hard way though |
That is really bad news Mr C. Good idea of Sean's about the £100 reward though. You might be in with a chance of getting it back. God, nothing's safe is it? Did the guy look at all dodgy. Did you get any clue of what he was up to? Did he make eye contact? Create any suspicion in your mind that he was up to no good? I'm planning to advertise my car after Easter. This has made me feel very nervous. I suppose, if someone comes to look at a vehicle, you're best to keep the documents out of sight until they hand over the readies. Good luck with the search and keep us posted. |
Just take a photo of the guy as soon as he turns up. Then if he does a runner at least we know who to look for. |
Sorry to hear that Mr C. I would probably be doubtful about the scumbags true origin though. But then again, in true scumgbag form he probably left you with his number on the 1471 telephone setup? |
Quote:
I do have his number from 1471 I contacted T-mobile but becaise or data protection they cant tell me more than its registered to an Address in Bury. There are various Mobile tracker websites that could track his number but it would txt his phone 1st asking permission to be tracked. Also the phones switched off and has been since yesterday |

I think you can still get the number, it would be a Police thing, not something you could do... Gutted for you Paul, hope they catch the fella. Hopefully still see you tomorrow |

I expect that I'll never see it again now, Even if they get him he'll no doubt get a slap on the wrist and i'll still be out of pocket Just going to have to write it off i think. Anyway the weather looks good for tomorrow, Looking forward to hopefully a good day out. |
