At last my 888 is back!(now with pics) After a couple of false alarms the T8 is finally back on the road:D Dead battery put me back a week, then a sticking throttle position sensor(found after a bit of detective work at Carl Harrisons) nearly ruined my weekend:mad:But now she really flies:bouncy: pulls from 2000rpm top and revs to five figures in a blink of an eye:D:smug: the joys of lightened flywheels and gas flowing. The hyperpro suspension seems to be working really well, with lots more feel and compliantness(is that a word:puzzled: ) The bike seems so much crisper, lifting the front wheel with ease on the way home, nearly catching me out:devil: I`ll try and post some up to date photos tomorrow before it`s first DSC ride of the year on Sunday.:saint: [Edited on 19-3-2005 by sparkin] |

Glad to hear you've got it up and running mate.:) |
Welcome back to the land of the revvin |
Lovely Jubbly, Graham, and perfect timing. If you're reading this ... what are you doing, get out there in the sunshine and burn some rubber! :D:D |
Hmmm, sounds good. Have been toying with the idea of the fly wheel mod. Actually bought a Nichols and it's in the shed but have heard both sides of the story and I am still undecided. How many have put a lightened flywheel in? and what do you think? |
I have a Bucci on my SP5,but also have an STM slipper so don't know what the benefits of just the flywheel mod are.I know it certainly spins up quick and haven't really noticed any downsides. |

I have a lightened flywheel in my 996 and it revs up pretty quick, goes like a train. It's supposed to make it a bit lumpier and snatchy down low but I commuted in London on it and didn't really notice it more then standard. I think the pro's outweight the con's. My gearing is shorter than standard too so that helps smooth out the negatives, and emphasise the positives ;) Oh, and l have a Corse slipper clutch in mine with the lighter plates ... As promised, but not the brightest day for pictures. Not sure where the nearest Dyno is Rich, but I`m going to infestigate:devil:;) |

Very nice mate.I'm interested to know how the work compares to the standard T8 and SP5. |
Fungin gorgeous mate!:) |
Right, for those who asked what work was done here`s a list, please bear in mind that I might have missed stuff as Carl tends to do what ever is needed and forgets to tell me:) Wheels, stripped, new bearings, replated spindles, powder coated white. Rearshock re-valved,hyperpro spring powdercoated and fitted, all fastners/lockrings replated. Front forks resealed, rebushed, hyperpro springs and oil fitted, bottoms cleaned up. New headstock bearings Full engine service, all bells and whistles Exhaust system polished Engine fastners replated On inspection it seems the head has had some light gasflowing at sometime:D 998 Alloy clutch assembly Fast by feracci flywheel Radiator repainted I think that`s it! |
Right that`s the done list, here`s the to do list; Carbon chain adjusters(bling) Steering damper(bling + handling) Radial brake lever(bling + braking) Radial clutch(what the hell) Carbon clock surround (bling + foams a bit tatty) Finish carbon bodywork(just plain bling) 955 engine (I wish:devil: ) Nutcase over and out:bouncy: [Edited on 31-3-2005 by sparkin] |
Sparkin, Let me know where to get the carbo n clock surround, mine is looking a bit tatty and could do with replacing, your bike is looking fine! Simon [Edited on 22-3-2005 by simon foster] |
Any joy with my list Nat? |
Sparkin, before you go for the radial clutch,be aware it's an absolute sod of a job to do.Alot easier once you have done it of course!!So,drop me a line before you start work. This is my carbon surround, with side pieces as well. |
That looks fantastic Jasp,I`d be well pleased if my dash looked like that! Where have you mounted the fluid reservoirs, that looks so neat and tidy? Probably won`t fit the master cylinders myself, bit of a cop out,but I`ll get Carl Harrison to do it:saint: |
They are mounted on "L" brackets through holes in the top yolk.I can get you a couple if you want them. The main problems with the clutch is: 1:it hits the fuse box 2:the choke assy fits to the original master cylinder But as you are chickening out,it's not a problem for you!!;) |
