Anyone Got 04 749S with Termis???????
 

I purchased a 2004 model 749S in October of last year.

At the time I paid for part number 96442804B which is the 102db Termi kit. This was to be fitted at the first service.
I was told this was the only part number that would work correctly and that people had experienced problems by fitting 03 pipes on to 04 bikes. The problem lay with the cpu.

Anyway part wasn't avaliable but would be shortly, no problem me thinks. In December salesman phones and emails telling me he has my exhaust in the box in his hands.

Now a week before they are due to do service and fit Termi's I am told they have never had said exhaust and still don't know when it will be avaliable.

Has anyone else got an 04 bike and had this part number fitted?

To say I am p*ssed off is an understatement.

i'll have a look at mine, is the part number obvious?

Don't know if it will be. I am told some dealers have incorrectly fitted 03 pipes on to 04 bikes and that the correct part is not avaliable, but I am sure some people have had the right parts.

I have just been down to look and can't see anything obvious, I'll look on the invoice when I get home tonight.
The only thing that I did see was that there are the words "for racing use only"... I thought these where road legal....oooopps!
Either way they seem fine on my 04 bike....what ever part number they are!

I've got an 04 749 (not the S though) and I have the original box etc that it came in. I'll check the details tonight and let you know. Unless you know that the Termis for an 's' are different.

Stuart your part number should be slightly different 96433003B which was for an 04 749 or an 03 S.

Ive said it before, for the cost of the box only jobbie, you could have a full 54mm system.

I would always power commander it any which way, so who gives a damm about the cpu!

Which full system can you get for the same money (& where from)?

My mate(ish) has a brand new termi 54mm system inc carbon cover, guard, air filters......still boxed, or he had last time i tried to advertise it! to fit the cast swing arm.........

A few exhaust facts.

1) all 749, 999 std exhausts are the same.

2) the "race" can will fit onto the std or de-cat front pipe and run.

3) In my opinion, if your shelling out for the "race" system, which remains assymetrical, you might aswell spend a little more, and get a proper balanced system.

4) If you upgrade the exhaust, hell, even if you want your std bike to run correctly, id say have a PC 111 usb, and a bit of dyno time.

5) If you do the pc route, you dont need a new CPU, as the fuelling can be set with the PC!!

6) If you go the non Termi route, ie with another make, you dont get a cpu, so need the PC anyway!

Unless - of course , you have a 749R.

Choices are - full 57mm termi or equivalent.....that's it !

Alternatively you 'do it yourself' with an assymetric system from another model...although I hear that Termi will be making an assymetric system specifically for the 749R this year.

I don't know what other options are available given that the 749R has a deep sump and a fabricated swinging arm ?

yup, ill give you that. I was refering to the cast swing arm models........

Just wondered if anyone knew of any viable alternatives for the 749R.
I'd like a balanced system but - hey call me cheap - but I don't want to shell out the best part of 2.5K and a termi or a Leo system

Also - agree with you about the CPU issue.

I had a 996S before my 749R and I couldn't get it to run properly using DP chips.
Put a PC on it and it ran really smoothly after being set up an the dyno.

My dealer suggests that a new CPU isn't really necessary.

no not yet,its having a new wire loom tomorrow,jhp is conifident this is the route of it,nought to do with termi etc,just a faulty loom.done by end of week.

I,ve got the assymetric ordered for my 749R.

Apart from the noise - was there any noticeable difference with the new system ?
