Are these race pads worth the money? Just short of £200 a set :o Still thinking about it though. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2609140189... 4.m1423.l2649 |

Cheers Chris. :D |
Just sent you a text Neil. |
Depends what your going to use them for, if your using them for racing and have Brembo Superbike discs or equivalent 6mm thick discs then yes they are probably worth it. If your going to be using them in anger and getting the most from them with thinner disc and end up warping the discs then probably not. And for road use the answer to your question is No |
Yep thanks Phil. Kev I was thinking of the using them in the 996 next year. When I rode the 1198 at Oulton it had (I think) PZ4 pads? I know the calipers are different to the 996 but the stopping pwoer was awesome. I know some use them in the 848. Just want to try and improve the 996. :D |
The RSV4 I had off Dallas had Brembo Z04 pads along with Brembo Stainless Superbike discs (6mm Thick), which he bought after talking to Neil Appleton at Bike Torque who I use to race against in Sound of Thunder. Neil warned about disc warpage under race conditions with lesser discs and judging by the amount of warped standard Aprilia RSV4 discs Dallas had it is often an issue. Ideally Brake Pad Material should be matched to the Disc Material |

That makes sense. :D So I am I looking at cast iron discs? |

I have a pair sat at home, not sure if they are semi or full floaters though? Had them as trackday discs, but since doing the radial fork and caliper conversion they I need the 15mm offset discs, so they are now redundant. Chris:burn: |

Depends what SBS recommend to go with those double sintered pads Brembo recommend Stainless with the Z04 pads and as they are for race use only they recommend the 6mm Superbike disc |
I have run the Z04 with my 4 pads monoblocs. £450 a set!! As a consequence i have looked into alternatives too. I still like a lot the MCR from Bendix. Equivalent in the dry to be honest and about a 4th of price. Brembo only edge them in cold performance and wet performance. I have not tried but Performance friction is said to be very good too. About half price to Brembos. Apparently Bayliss used to use Perf Friction. And i do run the 6mm discs. |
