Brands today (not so good Friday for some)

well, it wasnt so good for some:(

Looks like the desmo boys who were there were (on the whole, having a great time):D

Casualty list, when I left with Rally in my car - having collected him out of hospital on wobbly crutches with a few broken bones in his foot & cutting his hand badly, amongst some heavy all over bum bruising:o
also:
TP who had a minor disagreement in a gravel trap (bike ok, apart from slightly bent bars), rider fine (when I left, he was grinning as Dave was sorting the bar changeover for him)
Ali, whose engine in his desmo bike wanted a rest, & needs to visit uncle Nelly,

and all this by lunchtime...:o

I really hope the afternoon went better - looks like Dickie, Dave, Uncle Dunnie, MW & others bikes were going rather well.

Rally says ta for sorting out the return of his bike later peeps.

C:)

keefer 25-Mar-2005 19:36

has TP ever done a track day that hasn't ended in the gravel ?
:lol::P:lol:
on a serious note glad all are ok :saint:

clint 25-Mar-2005 19:39

Rally, hope things are not to painful at the moment. :(

Clint

skidlids 25-Mar-2005 19:45

Rally sorry to hear you had more than a minor off, sppedy recovery.
And will you all stop fighting over the muppet award, someone must be getting a new Avatar tonight

And if he's really lucky he might get back all the bits the DesmoDue boys stripped off it....:devil::devil:

Darren

AK 25-Mar-2005 21:59

there wasnt much 'bling' left in one piece to strip off it Darren!!:P

Albie 25-Mar-2005 22:01

Oh nooooo:o:(:(

Rally 25-Mar-2005 22:13

Is that official then - I get first muppet of the year? ;)

For those who don't know - I high sided out of Druids.

Big thanks to CK for getting me home, Duncan for getting what's left of the bike home and everyone for there support.

I was saying to Charlotte that perhaps the worst part of the incident is that I can't say that I learnt anything from it (except what a great bunch of guys the DSC are). I don't think I was pushing that hard - I didn't get any warning before it let go. There is nothing that I can say 'That's where I went wrong - won't do that again'. Ho hum.

Of course being somewhat disabled for the moment does scupper my Desmodue plans. Very much doubt that I'll make Cadwell.

Albie 25-Mar-2005 22:15

Glad your not too bad Rally. Sorry to hear news tho. Hope repaired soon mate

AK 25-Mar-2005 22:18

Glad you got her home Michael, Alan says if you need any help.... he has the phone number of a few Ducati mechs & bodyshops for you:devil: - nah - gissa call & we'll try & help.

Hope the foot hasnt started to be too painful yet, and also that you made your parents work jolly hard around your gaff getting it 'just so' for you & restocking your dreadfully empty batchelor fridge! :D

Tiger beer and T-Cut should do the trick;)

AK 25-Mar-2005 23:08

Weeksy - Rally was on his sparkly 999, having ridden it there.
At least the mirrors were safe, tucked in his bag.

Mid-late morning session, couldnt see any reason for what happened.

His desmo bike is under a 'revamp session' at home, as Rally was a latecomer to the series, by only getting his bike 3 - 4 weeks ago.

Jon 25-Mar-2005 23:30

Michelins I bet:mad:

Dementor 25-Mar-2005 23:38

Sorry to hear about your off M8, hope you are up and about soon.

Roy

antonye 26-Mar-2005 00:04

Nobody saw what happened - I came round Druids only to find a spinning bike in the middle of the track with Rally laying in the dirt way off to the side.

Hope it all heals soon!

ericthered40 26-Mar-2005 00:11

Evening Anthony been waiting for you to arrive in one peace.
How did you get on?

Rally get well soon

antonye 26-Mar-2005 00:14

Rather knackered at the moment, but not as sore as some!

Kept it upright and my plan of scaring the other DD racers by taking hte 748 seems to have worked wonders! :D

Did anyone get any pics? Didn't see the picture thingy all day and there's nothing on the Focused webshite...

ericthered40 26-Mar-2005 00:23

Not nice if you high side and don’t think your pushing it
Bit of a knock to the confidence and the rest of the body.
Cool to have on your C V though
;)

Brent 26-Mar-2005 00:23

Rally - sorry to hear about the off. Hope both you and the 999 are back in pristine condition asap!

Rally 26-Mar-2005 00:44

Thanks for your concern folks.

"Meanwhile at the early season DesmoDue practice session a late charge through the field by TP996 on his tidy Monster saw him carve his way around the outside of a CBR600 on the left-hander followed by a swift body swerve to the outside of the track to pass an R6 round the outside of the right-hander. His phenomenal acceleration only just held in check by the fantastic grip afforded by his heavily shredded rear Pirelli saw him gently swing further out from the racing line whilst keeping the bike firmly nailed on it's side until there was nothing left to do as he crossed the sideline but stand it back up and ride straight through the kitty letter!"

WoW!!!! :o

Can I have your autograph please Tony

Looked like he'd done the Paris-Dakar by the time he was finished.

Fell on his feet though (although not literally) 'cos he made one of the BSB boys wash the bike down for him.... :o:o:o

rally....didnt even get to meet you before your off. very sorry for you. just saw you going off in the car and your bike being taken back later in the day. hope all heels well and you can get out again soon.

if your tyres were warmed up it can only have been putting too much power on too early. its very easy on a 999. i have had a couple of moments at brands where i have put it on a bit heavy handed but got away with it.

dont know what tyres you were on but i now run supercorsa sc1's and sc2's on my 999. imho the best if you are pushing it on a track.

speedy recovery.

dickieducati 26-Mar-2005 10:54

my views on the day......

as ever great to meet up with everyone.....

bike went ok but grounding out link pipes and bellypan so need to look at riding style (as ever) and possible suspension mods maybe. first time out on it with race shift/cans/and rearsets and all felt ok.

definitely need to up my speed otherwise in serious risk of ending up last. even got passed by tp! the shame of it! but i will up my game, starting tomorrow at CSS rockingham.

one last word of thanks to the ****er on the R1 who decided to knock into me at surtees as i was turning in and punt me off the track. good experience for the racing to come.:D

dickieducati 26-Mar-2005 11:17

Redruth 26-Mar-2005 18:55

So sorry to hear about this Rally. I'm sure you won't let it deter you. Hope your broken bones mend quickly and your bike isn't too expensive to fix (well wishes can sometimes be pure wishful thinking, of course!)

Dickie, great photos. :bouncy:

JasonBoswell 26-Mar-2005 20:58

Couldnt have asked for a better day to kick the track day season off - great weather, great track, and great company.

Thanks to TP for the space in his luxury race transporter for me and the bike - cheers mate :D

Took a couple of piccies in the pit garage...

Good photos Jason. Who is the guy that Charlotte is having a finger wagging moment with and did he recover without hospital treatment?

And was that Rally returned to Brands on crutches? Some people just don't know when to call time and nick off home, do they? :rolleye:

AK 26-Mar-2005 23:06

:o oops, that was peteB I was chatting to Ruth:lol: - and yes, Rally wouldnt go straight home - we had to detour past brands, so he could really annoy himself as to what his bike had suffered:o

C

Redruth 26-Mar-2005 23:12

Oh Oh. PeteB. Has he heard from Nick yet about his bike?

webbyc 27-Mar-2005 09:39

Sorry to hear about the offs - Rally how long on the crutches mate?

Rally 27-Mar-2005 13:22

Not entirely sure Chris. Potentially six weeks I guess...
