Camping at DD rounds? This is open to competitors and anyone coming along to watch the rounds (or just turning up to watch the Turn 1 carnage!). Where will you be staying for the DD rounds? Cheers, Ali |
in your tent .... |
b and b for me. i strictly leave camping to julian clary etc. |

Not sure how my missus would feel about that! Oh, just checked and she said it's fine....:( Which side of the bed do you want??? |
either side as long as yer missus is in the middle .. |
In the van, if we cant travel on the day - B & B is well outside our budget. |
I plan to turn up the afty/eve before and sleep in our hospitality unit. |
Im DSC not DOC so Ill be in the Tent  4D |
Tent if I can't travel in the day. I love sleeping with my bike. |
Same as all the other race meetings i'll be kipping in the back of my van and enjoying the paddock evening life, especially at Castle Combe where I hope to see at lot of the North Glos guys. |

Are you now gracing us with your presence at all of the DD rounds this year? |
I'll be in the official DesmoDue administration vehicle-eg my motorhome-and NO you can't all share it if it's raining!:P John |
"my boys! ???? Who are they? |

on yer bleedin own lets get that straight............LMAO..... Phil |
Motor home for me:sing: Chass. |
Don't mean to sound elitist but I can afford for someone else to cook my breakfast for me and I have budgetted accordingly. It looks like at least 2 others are of the same view, one of which is Dickie. Come forward now, don't be shy! |
I don't think there's anything worse than needing to be wide awake and focused for a race meeting, than having to "rough it" in the back of a van or a tent. I know most of you probably have this down to a fine art, but I'd rather fork out the extra 30-40 quid for a B&B and get a good night's sleep in the warm and dry :D |

That's pretty much why I'm camping. I'm under no illusions that it'll be any cheaper (once I've bought a tent, 2 sleeping bags, 2 sleeping mats, etc, etc, etc.....) but not being at the circuit wouldn't seem right. If I had a bit more wedge then I'd hire a motorhome and have some trackside luxury, but a decent size tent should do the job nicely. Ali |
Showering? |
Ali, For the cost of 2 sleeping mats you can get a cheap airbed and small genny thing that runs off the car cigarette lighter to pump it up, far far comfier ... |
http://www.millets.co.uk/Millets.sto...oduct/09278445 double airbed and pump £28, trust me its worth its weight in gold for your back ...... |

Sold! I had to sleep on one of these for a few months and worked pretty well. They just always end up leaking.... |
another point to consider is actually being there on time and knowing where to go........If i was at a B&B i would constantly be thinking about getting there in time...where do i sign on! will i get a space to park etc etc...if im at the circuit i think it will help with the whole " where " to be scenario... As mentioned its not just about the " race " its about the paddock the brotherhood etc when its ****ing down and we are soaked i may change my mind LOL Phil. |

no you won't, you'll just ALL go round to Montys gaff, just take your own mug as he doesn't have many ........ |
Quote:
I left a full bottle of whiskey in Monty's motorhome at Donington last year ... that should still be there I would imagine. |

My Mate "Domski" has a huge Marque that fits about 25 peeps in..im sure if its raining we will allow other due entrants in to enjoy the hospitality.......lol Phil |
unfortunately we dont have a budget exceeding £200+ for accom - we'd rather spend it on the bike if we had it:P Got all the overnite gear, from Rallies/carshows/horseshows etc, so no need for shopping either:P - and its like Kev says - being there catching up with mates etc:D C:cool: |
sleeping in a tent at the rounds I can make overnight, want to get a 'feeling' of racing and not too importatnt if I dont sleep much as I aint racing! |
Got a caravan and awning and just made another door in it to fit bike in too so all in one self contained unit. Pity I can't stick the kids in the caravan when travelling though. Would put paid to the ''are we there yet'' '' I need the toilet '' whines from the back of the car. |
Lin - dont ever take Flanks' are-we-there-yet' joint Dorset rep then!!:o |
We're camping - in a tent. Now those of you that know me reasonably well might be surprised at that but having spent the night in a rather luxurious tent at the Bemsee round in France last year, I reckon it's changed a bit since I was a wee lass, though it will obviously be the washroom facilities that make or break it. Cadwell seemed fine, we'll probably stay at home for Brands (or at least I will), Snetterton - well the whole point of that is staying around for the night. That only leaves Donny and Castle Combe so I reckon I can put up with those two no matter what. We've been doing our research too. Millets seem the best. If you need the whole lot including beds and mats, etc, have a look at this, otherwise there's one which is called the Trent in the brochure but seems to be the same as the Tweed online, which sleeps 4 in 2 compartments either side of space in which to store/work on the bike and which only weighs 8.4kg. £120 mind you. Much better than Blacks. From what I saw of the atmosphere at Croix, definitely the way to go..... |
Much as I have eschewed all forms of canvass for the last several years, ever since I could afford to stay in a proper bed on holiday, I've decided that the spirit of the whole DD thing, putting up a tent, having the bikes under canvass, washing in cold water in a ladies room with strangers wandering in and tactfully ignoring you, having nowhere to plug your hairdryer, is all indicative of the level of support I am prepared to give to as a non DD racer. Sacrifice, that's what this series is all about, and I'm prepared to make as many sacrifices as the rest of you! (well, I'll try it once and if it's horrible will book into nearest Champneys for anti-canvass therapy). :D:D |
can't say i've ever known a racer who didn't stay at the track - this aint a track day; you need to be there early to scrutineer and register then get ready for practice / qualifying, then change EVERYTHING in time for the first race, then wait for your results and CHANGE EVERYTHING ready for the second race, then CHANGE EVERYTHING BACK before you pack up and go home. it's all about the vibe. |

Sorry to disappoint you Nick, the sponsors are unanimous in that you will have to make do with the Winnebago Vectra as it stands.:(:( |
Bugga! Oh well, if it's that black/silver one they showed us then we should be grateful I s'pose. At least it's got a shower, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, lounge. Are they still providing a driver? |

You rang M'lord? |

Hmmm... we'll have to kick the Page 3 brolly dollies out in the rain then :saint: |
Quote:
Are you sure mate?? I looked for it and couldn't find it-maybe the 'little people' took it.....................:frog: John |
Quote:
Yeah it was in the cupboard above the sink on the RHS I think. The 'little people' shouldn't be able to reach it :D |
