Transponder.... always Sorry to bugging you with this (I know it's an already spoken topic...), but I have no idea of what kind of transponder we have to buy. A friend of mine can sell me this (he did Kart racing with): http://southwick.dyndns.org/desmodue...ransponder.jpg Is this one suitable for us ? Thanks by advance, Tonio. |
I don't know if that is ok or not, try ringing New Era and tell them what it is? I got mine from the European Superbike School website, they offer a gauranteed buyback scheme. |
That looks like amb160 which is only suitable for up to 160kph If you think your bike will go much faster than that past the timing beacon then the lap might not be registered. The only transponder that's guaranteed to work is the amb260, but they're expensive, and almost never available second hand. |
Good idea, I will send them an email, my english for emails is better than all my others english ;) |

TP, stick it on ebay when you're done with it mate... you'll get back nearly as much as you paid for it! |

I was going to do that with a reserve of what I can get from ESS :D I might need it for a year or two more hopefully :D |
There\'s one here |
I just missed a 260 on a karting website I found, the guy wanted £80 for it! I was a tad gutted ... |

Wouldn't have a sidepanel big enough on a bike, I'll stick one on the side of my leathers for you though  |
unrelated idiot question ... are you allowed to use a transponder on a trackday ? or would there be no point, are the time keepers even present on a trackday, and would you have to pay a fee to the timekeeper ? |
good eh just rideing allong the M1 took me mudguard off at the same time glad it was in a straight line |
I hope they're not Pirelli Diablos :o:lol: |
i did ask local tyre fitter if he mended punctures |

I doubt the timing systems would be switched on at a track day, and very doubtful you'd be able to persuade anyone to do so. The rule is (with most tdo's) no timing of any description, even the missus on pit wall with a stop watch! Plenty of people seem to get away with it tho, either the bar mounted lap timers or a mate sitting trackside. p.s. scotty - they're flogging Tyre Weld cheap at tesco... should do the trick! |
