C/f rear hugger?

Suggestions on which and where to get one for a 04 999R?

Carbon749 31-Mar-2005 00:36

Not sure if they do one yet, but, QB Carbon would be a good place to start. They built my tank, fairing, seat, guards, front mudguard and rear hugger etc etc all in carbon

Everything that looks black on my bike is all gloss carbon fibre.

Streamline Carbon also do one, got one on mine although its very large (only using it during the winter, gonna swap to a small one in summer once all the cack on the roads disappears), but it was only about 80 quid direct.

Look on fleabay, theres always loads on there...

Ducnow 31-Mar-2005 11:40

Thanks a lot guys.
Time to buy a c/f rear hugger :bouncy:

Who's JHP?
Does he have a site?

electricsheep 31-Mar-2005 11:58

JHP is John Hackett Performance now known as Ducati Coventry. John is a very well respected ducati expert. His 749R finished 2nd in BSS at Brands on Monday

JPM 31-Mar-2005 12:03

My 999R is back at John's at the moment, can only think of a handful of people I would trust with my bike, and John is numero uno :D

Ducnow 31-Mar-2005 13:07

Went to JHP's site but didn't found cf rear huggers.
Are you guys refering to Ducati parts?
Anway.... i think i'll go with the casoli one.

JPM, any news about your bike?
Have they found what's wrong with her?

JPM 31-Mar-2005 15:13

You'd need to call them, the site is just a hint of what they do.

You couldn't put every product on a site, I'd advise anyone to go and look at the stuff that John/Ducati Coventry sell, might be wise not to take your credit card with you though (Sorry John!)

As for my bike, no news, should be ready for the 9th April from what I am told, last I heard they were going down the coils route, I hope it's that otherwise it'll be another trackday missed and more money down the drain for sitting there watching the world go by

Yes JPM, but i need a site where i can easly buy online because i'm in Portugal.

As for your bike...... that sucks. I really hope you can have her ready for the next TD.
I've lost 3 trackdays in a row once because of an R6 i had that always "blew up" after 3 laps.

JPM 31-Mar-2005 17:17

Can't you get huggers in Portugal then?

If you're going to order one from the UK I wouldn't go ordering one from Casoli, as has been seen in the last few weeks they don't seem too hot on on-line orders, but great and helpful if you go down to the store.

Ring JHP, speak to Dave in parts, it'll be in the post today if you're quick and be there for the weekend hopefully.

I'm hoping you've got the correct paddock stand and bobbins as you will probably need to remove the rear wheel to fit the hugger, you can do it with the wheel still in place but far easier without it.

Ducnow 31-Mar-2005 17:27

I guess i can, but i'm not sure where.
And i'll probably have to wait some time for it.
But i'll try to inform myself here. (sometimes it's cheaper to order from abroad)

Wow, really? That sucks :(
Hell i wasn't expecting to have to remove the rear wheel for that. Does That happen with all the rear huggers or just with some kind?
Anyway, thanks for the advice.

sonic 31-Mar-2005 17:30

Some dont, but be carefull, the one I ordered from Streamline Carbon didnt have the bolts with it (and there were none on the bike, just little plastic clips) so I had to go get some. Standard stuff, just a bit more hassle. Took me about 5 mins to fit with wheel still on and on sidestand.

Again though, not as nice as some of the casoli or duke ones

JPM 31-Mar-2005 18:00

Basically the hugger on the 04 999R swingarm/ 05 swingarm uses existing bolts, chainguard and rear brake line, the problem arises as the hugger fits inside of the swingarm on the r/h side where the brake line runs, so you need to unscrew the brake line which as you will find out the bolt is about 1 inch if that from the rear tyre, so trying to get an allen key in there is tight for use of a better word

sonic 31-Mar-2005 19:17

must be different on the 749...I'll get me coat...

Brogins 01-Apr-2005 00:11

If it is like the 05 999 swingarm, you need to grind an allen key or take the wheel down as JPM was suggesting... and by the way!! there is a little plug on the swingarm to be removed on the side of the second bolt on the brake line..(Thanks message board..I was taking my hugger back to Italy as I though it didn't fit!!!)

Ducnow 01-Apr-2005 12:09

Thanks for the info, guys.
