Race reps

Just wondering, if you had the choice of any race rep from WSB or GP which one would you go for.

Im just in the process of doing the Steve Martin DFX rep. Hopefully it will come out the nuts.

Reason for asking is that I have been going through the minichamp models, there are some crackers out there. i also like the Camel Honda colours of Max. Soooo many to choose from.

Ray_Von 01-Apr-2005 23:01

I like my 02 Bayliss rep. Having said that I thought that Dean Ellison's 2003 bike looked the dogs, but thats BSB. This years Xerox looks pukka too, would look a bit odd on a 748 though!

Max replicas fall over when pushed

DFX replica's like Chili replicas blow up:bouncy::lol::lol::lol:

Ruben Xuas reps ...........................................

Rattler 01-Apr-2005 23:50

There's only one rep worth doing IMO for the 996 shaped Duke;

Looks even better in the flesh too!!!

Its why my DD race number is 21 !!

Lily 02-Apr-2005 10:21

I am with Tim :)

If I were to have a 'proper' race rep then that's what i would go for. I have a rep bike but its a road version and not stickered up in the same way and I kinda like the slightly in your face paintjob (not that its ever been in that bodywork)

Jools 02-Apr-2005 10:28

Well, since nobody races ST's, having an ST race rep is out of the question so my opinion isn't worth anything, but you know you're going to get it anyway :lol::lol:

Race reps don't do it for me. They always look a bit too "wannabee" for my taste, but each to their own

Festa748 02-Apr-2005 11:47

This is a rep im in the middle of doing just needs a few more bits and she is done

adam 02-Apr-2005 18:07

Jools, it just adds to the bland panels on a track bike, looks the nuts also.
"wannabee" more like id liketabee.:D

My bike is up at nellys now, he thinks it might be the timing sensor. Just have to wait until a new one is plugged in.

deej 02-Apr-2005 23:15

well im going to have the say the gp teams as thats the pinnacle of motorsport plus it looks the dogs ********

i also like the old hm plant wsb colour schemes

im thinking oif gettign the 94-95 wsb foggy sticker kit for my 748

Like that corona rep too ! :o

Carbon749 03-Apr-2005 00:04

My take on the 2003 Fila rep WSB on a 749, just in the process of changing it to a Xerox 2005 rep. :D

deej 03-Apr-2005 00:09

not as nice as dave w's imho

Twinfan 03-Apr-2005 00:31

It all depends on the bike:

749 - Breil
999 - Fila
748/916/996/998 - Monstermob

Best paint job I've ever seen on a 748/916/996/998 was a completelt carbon bike with a plain white 'Ducati Performance' decal set. Looked amazing.

smilo006 04-Apr-2005 10:09

Saw a 998 in Fila colours, it was done by a Ducati mechanic and looked really pukka. Otherwise 2001 Bayliss rep or Monstermob.
999: Haga's bike from last year.

deej 26-Apr-2005 23:25

do you think a 2001 bayliss bike would look old now or still turn heads if done properly ?????????

bradders 26-Apr-2005 23:30

carbon749 - what the heck is that hanging off the back??? some kind of cannon?! I know sometime we like to blow other away but blimey!!:o

I think any race rep will turmn heads...but look good is another matter! Never been keen on the silver/grey, should be red or yellow.

Love Chillis from last year, and if I had 748 it would be that scheme

Mr_S 27-Apr-2005 00:01

Chili's Imola bike (2002 Poggipolini)

Early 916's ala Fogarty (traditional)

Test bike, plain carbon with a few stickers anyone :)

Last year's D'antin's, before the Visa colour scheme

neilkeogh 27-Apr-2005 09:27

Bradders,

If I'm not mistaken that looks like the WSB replica can made by Racefit, can be seen on the ducati nine website:)

Carbon749 27-Apr-2005 19:08

Braddars and Neil,

Quite right about the can .... RaceFit item. Me and a couple of mates knocked it up for fun 2 years ago when we built my WSB replica. Now they make cans as a small business and have had success with getting a few cans on to BSB race teams etc.

We did a GP system with a single can under the seat for the back cylinder and the front cylinder had a pipe that kicked out under the rear brake pedal through a cut out in the belly pan.

Pic's of that are on Ducati9 site as a customers bike.

Ducati9 and speedybits have them for sale

SPS 29-Apr-2005 00:57

I had been after a good BSB or WSB rep for a while.
Managed to get my hands od a pucka 996 Red Bull Rep , love it.
One of only twenty produced in the UK.
IMHO they are all superb machines race rep or not - enjoy the season is upon us!
Cheers
SPS

skidlids 29-Apr-2005 01:18

I would like to do replica paint job from the early days of the 916

either the Duckhams paint job as ridden by Simpson and Moodie, two reasons
I have one of the original 955 engines from that team
I also have a Ex V&M Duckhams CBR600

or I wouldn't mind doing a copy of Hizzys Devimead Ducati

mikecardiff 29-Apr-2005 12:07

I still keep coming back to the idea of doing my 748 in Repsol colours ( the old Doohan style rather than the newer Rossi ones ) - YES YES, I know technically its wrong as it should be on a Honda, but then :

a) My bike isnt really a WSB / BSB / GP bike.
b) I'm not really a WBS / BSB / GP rider, so its all a pose anyway.
c) Nobody else will have one.
d) I'd have to sell the Duc and buy a Honda to have it correct.

It would look really good though and suit the bike shape

deej 02-May-2005 19:17

ah go for it buddy,i did my honda with the ducati paintscheme and it turned heads everywhere it went

smilo006 30-May-2005 15:57

Not strictly a race rep but it is really nice. Built by the mechanic at my local dealer. It is based around a 955SP and really built up from scratch. 100% carbon bodywork, radial brakes, cut out clutch housing, matt black mag 10 spoke Marchi's. The Fila decals fit nicely too.

smilo006 30-May-2005 15:57

one more:

psychlist 30-May-2005 16:19

I prefer.........

.........the DesmoDue race-rep like this......

psychlist 30-May-2005 16:20

Or this.........

:biaggi:

smilo006 30-May-2005 16:33

Yours by any chance? Nice though. :burn:

desmojen 31-May-2005 09:47

I am going to be doing mine in Chili colours soon but without the stickers. I also like Robbie Rolfos flowers D'antin except for not being yellow ;)
My other favourite would have to be the silver Bayliss bike. :)
