Fuel Cap Lock Is it possible ( as in easy DIY job) to modify the lock in a filler cap to open with any key? I've just bought a spare tank for trackday use with cap but no key and don't want to have to replace the cap if I don't have to. Thanks Jason |
u2u Skidlids, he did the one i bought of him. |
Jason when you find the solution let me know please as I have just bought a spare tank for track days and the fuel cap i have has a key but I would rather use one key for bike and cap. |
Get a non-locking cap is the easiest way. Bought mine for £50 from http://www.moto2.co.uk/ but I think that was a show special. Saw these on ebay today which might be worth a look... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...tem=7965632353 Note that the round caps are universal - same for 916/748 as for SS, etc. More at their shop - http://stores.ebay.co.uk/The-Excellence-Parts-Shop |
I'd rather save the £50 if I can, though it's on my options list. |

I'll second that. i only paid £75 for the tank, pump and cap. mind you the tank is yellow and has a slight scratch:lol: |
Jasaon and Adam I have sent you both a U2U Kev |
Cheers Kev, Had a read through it, and it looks OK to me, so I'll give it a go at the weekend. |
Job done, Kev's instructions were spot on, and he's right about that spring behind the catch!! |
The weekend appears to have come around very quickly :o |
spot on, cheers Kev. |
