Got Knocked off today

A young lad in a Pug 206 decided to turn right in to me. I went straight over his bonnet and flying though the air. Was doing between 20-25 mph as id slowed slighty cause of the car turning right infront of me and the car waiting to pull out of the side road.
This Pug just came from no where, he hadnt had been stopped waiting he was going to quick to have just set off. Left me know where to go.
Good new is I am ok thought id broken my leg at first. I've not seen the condition of the bike but my mate was driving past as they were haulingher away. He noticed the handle bar was snapped and not much Fairing left.

Heres my little pic of what happen

Bad luck mate, you'll be sore tomorrow, mind you on the other hand you where probably very lucky, go and put a quid on the lottery.

Dibble 08-Apr-2005 21:20

mate, make sure you get him bang to rights on this, onus is on him to make sure it's clear to turn across traffic .....

glad you are ok .. thats the most important bit ...

jobr 08-Apr-2005 21:20

Sorry to hear about your off. Hope that tomorrow you are not to sore and that the bike isn't too badly damaged and that you are both back out and about quickly.

Mr C 08-Apr-2005 21:29

I just know tomorrow im going to be Black Blue Yellow Green. I do feel very lucky, The lad must have got a shock too. Anyway feel tired now so going to hobble my way to the couch and let my GF pamper her brave Soldier ;)

You poor bugger!

Hope you're not too bad but you should be thinking about getting yourself checked out. If you're a soldier get down to the unit RAP/base hospital and get looked at. You might need it for court or whatever if the young lad's insurance company says you were doing 100 mph etc etc..

Take it easy Mr C.

Oh, in that case get a hundred beers into you and chill out all weekend.

Dr TP prescribes plenty of watching of the BSB and MotoGP qualifying and racing. Now that's an order!

Sorry to hear about the accident. Glad that you got checked out properly.
When you draw that diagram for the insurance company you might want make it clearer that you were in the middle of the lane, not passing the car that was turning right..

Eamonn 08-Apr-2005 23:59

I was taught (years ago!) that in a car when turning right at a crossroads you should always go off-side to off-side to avoid just this type of accident.

See rule 157 here : Highway code

Rally 09-Apr-2005 02:16

Nasty. Hope you're feeling better soon (but you must get medical attention - just in case AND for your personal injury insurance claim)

I bet the car turning right on your side of the road flashed the 206 to go ahead without giving it a thought.

Old Yella 09-Apr-2005 10:20

Jeez mate, hope your OK.

Glad you got a witness or two, not always forth coming in accidents so check if the law have the witness details and ask for copies of the statements, make some interesting reading as their will be three different stories from three different people ;)

rockhopper 11-Apr-2005 09:32

Same here Henry but if you read the latest printed version of the code it appears to suggest that passing infront is now acceptable. If i try and pass behind i get some serious dirty looks from the other drivers!
