Cat Bypass? Anyone fit a cat bypass pipe yet? (Staintune/Arrow) Thinking of trying one with the standard cans. The routing of the pipe going under the engine instead of down the side of it seems much better and will stop the pesky exhaust shield scraping in the righthanders. And perhaps a few more BHP? I think the pipes only £200 or so? |

And again! |
Standard pipes and cat (for non multistrada peeps!) |
Looks way better than standard:D more power to I plan to do the same to my S4r when i get it and keep the standard cans first, so I can upgrade a bit at a time:D That bulge on the S4r just looks nasty :lol: |
Have to say I'm tempted @ £290 http://www.blue-job.co.uk/ducati.htm |
Hi Martin I got my cat bypass + new 45mm headers from www.spareshack.com. They do a type 1 - 45mm headers + cat bypass £356 and a type 2 - cat bypass only £237. I havent had it dyno`d yet to see what the gain is yet but i can feel a huge difference in the torque and some top end, it has also smoothed it out alot at low speeds (around town etc.) I dont know what the difference will be with a std can as i have termis on mine. You can see how it has tidied things up on my avtar. |
Here`s a better picture,don`t think Tantrum will mind:D I do own the copyright on that picture:P:D:lol::lol: ![]() |

ORDERED, ARRIVE TOMORROW:D If you quote Multistrada.Net Mike will give you 15% discount which will bring it down to £249 |
Pipes look good but really like those black wheels, miles better than the standard drab light grey ones. |
If its black wheels you want. |

Both the pipes and the black wheels look excellent, definitely on my "Wish List". The pipes look very well made, welding is neat and going by the colour they appear to have a high nickel content. The routing is simplistic and will not ground on right handers. My only concern would be ground clearance when the bike is upright and or loaded with panniers, top box or a pillion. Speed humps and bad roads spring to mind. They must boost performance and sound lovely, I'd love to see and hear them in the flesh. Does the ECU need changing or are there any other modifications that are required when fitting the pipes ? Apparently they out perform Termi’s, is that right ? Thanks. |

need to quote Ductai Sporting Club........:D We are a proper club not just a web club, - only joking Jantah ;) I spoke to Mike at staintune this morning, great guy very helpful. He is looking at doing some advertising with us, and we will have some web info up as we do with the Ventura importer. There is a DSC discount, we need to be a bit discrete over this as our discount is inline with what he would give a dealer, (as Roy posted above), -lets not shouting at dealers about it perhaps? - So does anybody know how to fit a full system and can spare me some time? |

:lol::lol::lol: The thing is you've got it right, I'm very fastidious and do usually take everything "just in case I need it". My other passion are Land-Rovers and when I attend shows my 110 Defender is completely full including the full length roof rack. Sometimes I do wish I could take the kitchen sink, my wife says it is a pain washing-up in a plastic bowl.:lol: My Multi's battleship grey wheels are going :D They are going to be sprayed Satin Black :D I asked about powder coating and the paint sprayer doesn't recommend it. |
Italian gee-gee ;) give me a shout if you want to know dealer who will give you a ride in ride out service. I went for powder coating, was given the choice of both but advised go powder as the front wheel is tricky. You need new wheel bearings as best not to re-seat the ones that come out. |
Hello Ian, Thank you for your post and info. :) It was a difficult decision given all of those highly recommended reputable Ducati service agents, thanks again gents for all of your help and assistance- Cheers. I made my choice based on several recommendations and have already booked my Multi in for work, however they must be very popular as the earliest appointment is mid May :o They are a very friendly and helpful bunch and I feel that I would receive a personal service that’s not offered by the big dealerships, I suppose spending almost £550 also helps improve customer relations !!! I’m certain they are worth the wait. Just out of curiosity, which dealership do you recommend ? Ian, I see your point regarding the front wheel being awkward to spray paint due to all the different angles and hard to reach places and I’m aware of the benefits of powder coating I.E. That the particles/powder are attracted to an object or a wheel in this instance due to it being positively charged and the spray gun being negatively charged thus attracting the particles or powder into or onto those hard to reach areas. Why do the wheel bearings need to be removed for spray painting. :puzzled: I think this only applies to powder coating but I might be wrong, I wonder if it is due to the wheels being baked at a high temperature in an oven, possibly damaging the wheel bearings or maybe because the entire surface is powder coated and cannot be masked off like spraying? As an aside, some fairing or body parts on the Multi are fibreglass and some plastic, has anyone noticed that the shade of red paint used is different ? Take a close look. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the ProTwins event and "Italian Day" at the Ace Café. :( Ian, perhaps we'll meet sometime, maybe at [i]John Henrys. will try to get to Findon tomorrow, here are my black wheels and Cat removal pipe, - also removable baffles, I am happy :D |

Very nice Ian, see you at Findon tomorrow and we can compare decibels:lol: |
Hmm,black wheels I like, cat free pipes I like. Not sure about those cans tho.I'm thinking of going down the SilMotor route.:) |
I brought the Sil ones and got the garage to fit them! See last post "piccys" |
Tasty looking pipes Ian |

The Sil motor ones would have been my choice if they were out when I had mine. The Termi back box and catless downpipes looks tidy, but is over a grand:o but you do get the ECU for that as well.......eventually hey Tantrum:lol: |
Ian, Your bike looks great as do your wheels, very nice. Those pipes are definitely something to drool over and I bet they sound awesome. I love the option regarding the removable baffles, very useful particularly around MOT time !!! :D That’s the problem with the stock or standard pipes, they just don't sound like a true Ducati, to be honest I am quite disappointed with the exhaust note, my other V-twin (Honda VTR 1000 Fire Storm) with Microns sounds far better. Having said that my VTR sounds muffled too with the original pipes, but they are useful once a year  I think a 'Cat By-Pass' is a must, apart from the obvious environmental issues, it does nothing to enhance the performance or sound of the bike, in fact it chokes and strangles it - A complete new exhaust system is my next target, not sure yet which one but Staintune and Arrow are quite popular but I want to see and listen to several different makes and learn from their owners the pros and cons before I make my decision. Take care and safe motorcycling. |
I`ve got the termi kit on my Multi, which cat removers will fit. I have the airbox, ecu and can kit. Cheers guys. |
Just fitted the Ducati Performance Race Manifold, (ok, so it's a cat bypass then). Looks good. Really good. Remus Revolution pipes due any day to finish it off nicely. I've owned this bike a week so far and i've got the serious accessorising bug: DP hugger DP alu filler cap DP carbon belt covers DP cat bypass Remus cans. Ventura luggage. I caught myself looking at performance engine bits earlier too. :o |
