NEW LEATHER ONE PIECE With Knox back panel, red MJK knee sliders, red on the shoulders and the rest black. Fitted them today. Goddam perfect. I rode up there on the bike in her track fairings. My house is on a hill and I have to say I was nervous about the sloping drive, being on the bike for the first time since Good Friday etc. etc. etc. but the bike feels fantastic. Tyres don't feel at all sticky but the engine, with all the servicing Mike Mechanic's done, feels fantastic. Only thing with the 42 tooth sprocket, on the short blast on the motorway I was looking for another gear and there wasn't one. Still, I've never revved sports bikes high enough. Now's my chance to learn. Generally grinning ear to ear. Cooking stir fry for my daughter and her boyfriend now. He's fitted my new dishwasher and is now working on lights and switches. My bike is just behind me - pride of place in the garage. When I finish the film in the camera, buy a scanner, I will post the pictures to show you all how perfect this is. :bouncy::bouncy::bouncy::burn: [Edited on 16-4-2005 by Redruth] |

I'm thinking more of a strong hook arrangement for a hammock. Floor space is at a premium as I have to buy a 2nd bike. ;);) |

Sounds like you are making plans for next season, is DD in your future ? |
It is, Rob, otherwise the practical thing for me would have been a 2 piece. The suit is fantastic. Have to get help getting into and out of it but I'm sure there will be people around. There are all kinds of reasons why I should steer away from racing. Age, experience, injury possiblity, expense. But I'm open minded and will make a decision at the end of this trackday season. Either way, I'm having fantastic fun with all of this so it really doesn't matter one way or t'other. :sing::sing::sing::sing::sing::sing: [Edited on 16-4-2005 by Redruth] |
I'm sure you'll have lots of eager helpers with the suit. I may even join the DD fun myself next year. Even if I don't, it seems to be excellent motivation to get down the gym and improve my diet. Hopefully you will be seeing much less of me in future :D R |
Fitted suit with no bulk round the middle lets you get in to the bike and move around just fine. Don’t feel right in anything else. Bit of a bas***d to eat ya breakfast in though. Going to Burnham in the morning with a pack of fledgling mates Ones got a FZ6, One on a 636 and One on a RS125, he got the RS last week stood for Two years but an evenings work got the little bugger sorted out, been thrashing it about of a night this week, little scratching rascal. Roger me 996 ridding cousin is off in Tenerife so only duke, still breakfast will be good, guaranteed. :D:D |
Was it MTM or your own suit fitted to you? Who did it? I have a virtually brand new one piece sat in the cupboard that is too big for me. Not worth me trying to sell it as I just wont get the return on it. I want to get these ones taken in to fit. Have been told that nine lives is best place, but its a bit far to go for fitting, so was wondering if there is anywhere nearer that do alterations? I have an identical set that are slightly 'scuffed' :D that were fitted to me when i had them repaired. |
Hi lily, made to measure, MJK Flitwick. Absolutely recommend them. Great service (loads of cups of tea per visit to the shop) and good advice about additional kit required:- Knox Back Protector Held Gloves (bought before Cadwell and definitely saved my knuckles in the off) Knox all in one undersuit Just an excellent all round experience. Was accompanied outside to my bike and Graham (the manager) held it whilst I put my feet on the pegs to check that the body armour didn't restrict me too much. Went for more supple body hip protectors because the type I'd originally chosen were too bulky on the hips. I've gone for mainly black with some red. Pretty much my own design from the most recent range they're doing. Apart from the fact that singlehandedly I can't get the back protector to stay in place when I'm putting the leathers on, which is more due to my restricted movement of shoulder and arm than the fit of the leathers, I am happy that it was money well spent. And whilst I was in there, I was chatting to 2 women who have 2 piece made to measure MJK leathers and they were equally thrilled, and looked fantastic in them so can't say fairer than that, really. Having ridden about 120 miles in them yesterday I feel as though I'd be uncomfortable not wearing them now. And the whole thing about needing help to get out of them? BONUS!! :bouncy::bouncy::bouncy: :sing::sing: [Edited on 18-4-2005 by Redruth] |
weres a pic of you in um then ? :smug: |
As modeled at Ducati Aylesbury Sunday morning and Silverstone paddock on Sunday afternoon. You certainly did look comfortable in them Ruth, sometimes you see people in new leathers looking somewhat restricted obviously not the case with MJK made to measure suits. |
