Rear Sub Frame

I hope I,m not alone on this one....!

Noticed movement on the extaust unit this weekend ,plus the heat sheild was rattling in time to bike, then to my total amazement I discovered the sub-frame completely cracked on both sides , just after the seat unit.
Has anyone else experienced this....??????:mad::mad:

Oh dear!!

All the way through?? Bugger!!

I've got one of the 'legacy' bikes (:)) so haven't had this problem. I do think I remember hearing this happening to other 999 owners though.

Yours is a 999R isn't it? Fairly new? What did the dealer say and who is your dealer?

Green1 18-Apr-2005 16:34

Apparently it has been known to go, a certain duff batch maybe?
The break is completely through on both sides.
The problem is the constant movement has worn other parts such as the heat tray and rear seat mount are also shot.

This was a problem on early 748R's and 998S mono's , mine (and mrs egg's) was replaced under warranty , no hassle :burn:

I didn't realise this was cropping up on 9's too , I'll check ours when I get home :rolleye:

Surely Ducati UK must be aware of this problem, does anyone know if there's been a modification.....?:puzzled::puzzled::puzzled::puzz led:

Real McCoy 19-Apr-2005 21:08

theyve started using a new supplyer in italy...Alegedly :sniff:

Green1 19-Apr-2005 21:16

You would normally expect a re-call on this sort of issue,Ducati obviously do not consider this could be a safety issue.....the whole thing blows me away.
Or should I be a british gentleman and not say anything.
