Phil

dickieducati 19-Apr-2005 16:04

do new era post a list of entrants for their races when they are all confirmed?

chicken 19-Apr-2005 16:05

Is anybody even confirmed yet? I haven't got my forms back from them yet....

chicken 19-Apr-2005 16:09

just spoke to the very nice Phil at New Era. He said they have not sent anything out yet but we should receive at the end of this week/early next week.

He recognised my name so I'm definitely down for it (although Phil already knows me so I guess that doesn't count!)

TP 19-Apr-2005 16:13

Cool, nice one Chi.

Apparently the bulk of the SOT numbers are riding small capacity Ducati's ...

NBs996 19-Apr-2005 16:20

If i've been keeping up to speed properly, then there's 37 entries.
There should be a complete entry list in the new era programme for each meet, but that's probably not available until race weekend.

Would be interested to know what guest riders are lined up...

fil2 19-Apr-2005 16:25

Sure a name on the New ERA entry list is great.........but would be interesting to know a little about the other riders.......most of us on here know one another etc but the " nameless " are a mystery..i heard a rumour about a very very quick MRO powerbike entrant.?

Phil

Just curious like always good to know the competion

NBs996 19-Apr-2005 16:30

I know what you're saying phil, but I think the only way to find out is to go'n shine a light in their eyes at cadwell!

Phil, this is a really good way to work yourself up into a lather. The evidence shows you're a quick rider but if you keep up this mindset I daresay that even I would fancy my chances against you .

NBs996 19-Apr-2005 16:42

Yeah, pull yourself together man...
Forget these MRO pretenders - there's NO competition!!

Nowt to do with getting worked up Chi or with my mindset.???....."to defeat your enemy you must make him your friend to find his weakness"

but seriously im interested to know ! anyone that has been in a competative environment before will understand that and why is it so hard for the powers that be to give us the info.?

phil

ps..yeah im ok..pretty fast..you all know that but what do you know about the " nameless " entrants huh.?

just makes me beg the question, why?

its a bit like tierry henry playing against the local pub team and banging loads of goals past them. cant imagine he would gain a whole lot of satisfaction from it.:puzzled:

Not sure what it means really, but it is the national club series. One below BSB if you like.

i'm looking forward to a complaint from one of the guest riders..............................

"i cant believe he took me out, didnt look like he knew what he was doing, he was all over the place, riding like a complete novice"

"errr, your point is?"

My favourite Sun Tzu line;
"Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him." Here kitty, kitty.....:rodent:

I must say I disagree with the analogy. If Rossi was a guest rider, you could study the tapes all you wanted but it still wouldn't stop him pi$$ing off into the distance.

On the day, I'll be busy fixing whatever happens to have broken and might spare a glance at the qualifying times.

sure no information would prepare you for Rossi but it would be nice to know he was entering....and you may be fixing your bike while others might want to study the competition what is wrong with wanting to know who is entering ..??? who you are lined up against etc......i fail to see that as a problem.......

Really ? Thank you.
So you can read French...
And so my English is crap :(

I keep hoping to be able to make jokes in English one day (anyway I won't leave your island before this...).

It's better than my French!

I never realised that "huile de coude" was an expression the French used - that made me laugh!

TP 19-Apr-2005 17:30

I can't see anything wrong with Phil wanting to know who is involved. I don't think I need to worry about it too much because it's not really going to have an impact on my preparation regardless.

People prepare for things in their own way, Phil has competed in sport to a high level and if this is what works for him then cool - no big deal.

I can't understand what satisfaction people get out of being a real big fish in a small pond either, but people do it.

When I was club rallying back in the 80's we were all in Mk III Escorts and 2.3 Chevettes and yet one bloke with shed loads of money used to turn out in an ex-works Metro 6R4, full support crew in a damn great artic truck, racks of OZ wheels with a huge selection of tyres from forest tyres to slicks...and yes, he used to win...by miles. But where is the fun in that?

Competition, it gets crazy you know

antonye 19-Apr-2005 17:53

Somebody has to win, but yes Jools that is a bit extreme!

Phil

Phil - relax man, I'm not having a dig at you. I'm just putting forward a different point of view.

I'm less worried about the competitors I don't know and more worried about the ones that I do know!

eg You've met me, but you don't know how I ride - do I try and hold the inside line? am I slow-in & quick-out or vice-versa (or slow-in & slow-out)? what is my riding history?
Even with the interviews that Phill did, you're only seeing the tip of the iceberg for each rider. Multiply that by 34 and it makes for a lot of unknowns - better to just get on with it!;)

It would be good to know - I agree with Phil - I reckon that anyone NOT in an orange vest will become a great target - if you manage to beat any of these you should get double points I reckon !!!! ;)

phoenix n max 19-Apr-2005 18:52

Even if Rossi did enter - there's only so much you can do with 600-620 monster or ss around Cadwell Woodlands circuit.
Roll on raceday - then we'll all know where we stand or fall.

Hate to interfere with your conspiracy theory Fil, but the Race Committee have exactly the same information about the previous race experience/competency of all the other entrants as they do about you - namely zilch.

And AFAIK DucatiUK haven't decided who the guest riders are after Cadwell.

You're going to have to be patient and get your spies to infiltrate the other camps at Cadwell I am afraid ;)
