MOT - Rac Cans

I presently have a fantastic set of 50mm titanium termi's attached to my glorious grey 748s. So far no problem, however i now hav to get an MOT carried out on the bike. Does anyone know of any "biker friendly" MOT service centres who will allow me to pass the MOT test without having to remove the cans? I live in south west london however i flexible travel surounding areas if needs be. Any advice is welcome.

Thanks in advance.

most Ducati dealers will sort you out

Sylvester13 21-Apr-2005 13:05

Well i would have thought that a ducati dealer would mot the bike too, to be honest, but my bike is getting serviced as we speak at a big london official dealership, and they won't do it, in fact they want me to pay £79.50 plus vat for an hour and a half labour to change the cans back to standard for the mot test and then will put the race cans back on afterwards.

Would that be DLS???????

never use them again then.
did they sell you the cans ?
try somewhere else. the problem being is by all accounts you are not supposed to pass race cans, so its not easy to ask over the phone,
but there are plenty out there who will.
vote with you're feet

it would be saying but yes it was DLS!!!!!!!

I only took it to them as it is 10 minutes from my house and it needed a service and some bodywork repair, etc etc. They did not sell me the cans, i bought them from P&H in crawley (i bought the bike there also), a top company and a top bunch of people, it was just that it was too far to drive.

I have had a couple of people contact me via u2u, thanks to all, i have spoken to one compnay who said that as long as the cans do not have "not for road use" stamped on them and they are not too loud (fat chance of this - 50mm) then they will pass it, bearing in mind i have the origionals.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing!!!!

good make sure you tell them where to stick there £79.50 plus vat for an hour

DB Killers for Termi's, fitted flew through MOT, excellent quality product excellent fit, puts UK manufactures and suppliers to shame, and now doing a nice selection of Ducati parts.

If you lookat the picture, there's a small threaded hole which is at the bottom when the db killer is fitted.
A corresponding hole drilled in the outlet of your exhaust & a small screw/ bolt sorts it out.

I was hoping that wasnt the case - I don't want to drill a hole in my cans. 10 mins taking em off will do.

Cheers.

10 mins taking em off? - Have you ever tried removing then replacing termis with stock pipes?
PLEASE come & do MINE!!

ath748 24-Apr-2005 16:29

yep, and it took me about 20 mins first time. I'm guessing now I know what to do, it'll take me less time.

Red-leader 24-Apr-2005 21:18

My bike has just been MOTd with 50mm Termis on. No problem at all. In fact I think they rather enjoyed them, there was plenty of extra blipping of the throtle going on !!
U2U me if you need the dealers details.
Regards Kev

From what I understand, db killers get 50mm Termis' down from around 118db to 95-97db..
Does anyone know how loud a standard can is in comparison?
Cheers.

Haven't the MOT regs just changed?? No probs as long as cans not "excessively noisy"??

Ray.
