999 first 600 miles service

Finally the wrench is blinking on my dashboard.. I have been a good boy trying not to rev over 5500 for 600 miles..
What I should expect to be done at the bike (in addition to the obvious) as it is the first time I take the bike in?
No problema experienced at today..
And by the way.. how much should I expect to pay?? I bought the bike at Daytona in Ruislip...
Thanks guys

From memory (which isn't very reliable!), my first service cost about £30

jobr 25-Apr-2005 12:50

The first service on my 749S was about £190.

Mark 25-Apr-2005 12:54

£30 quid to £190, that is some differance!!

You usualy have to haggle before you buy the bike for a "free first service" . Bought my bike after agreeing I paid for oil/lube/filter, dealer provided the labour element. its very frustrating that you have to do this, Ducati UK should see it as an essential selling point as every other bike company provides this and allow for it.

I bought mine from Daytona in Ruislip and from memory it cost me just oil n'stuff.

The Big Red One 25-Apr-2005 19:25

i paid £130 what a rip off. i will take my own oil and filter on the next service

jobr 25-Apr-2005 19:59

From threads on here £200 to include parts and labour is about right.

There is no such thing as a free lunch so I guess if the price at new included the first service its somewhere in the price, at the time I got a deal that was about £500 better than any other quote at new so in the end it was the best deal at the time without a service, one dealer was over a grand more but did include the labour.

I paid 180 for my first service (supposed to be around 200-210 but quoted me wrong on phone and i held them to it), was daft enough not to ask for one when I bought it, didnt even know the price then. Hindsight eh, wonderful thing.

Brogins 27-Apr-2005 22:16

let's see what's happen to me next wednesday... I have to wait more than a week to take the bike in.. no first service negotiation while buying the bike, but they were the best in offering money on my old bike...
thanks guys

My first service was £197 at Italia in Lincoln.

More than I expected, but, did include a full nut and bolt check etc all over the bike as I'd taken the bike to a bare frame and rebuilt myself at home.

Italia are very good, have been there with my last 2 dukes.

Well Brogins,
I can't believe you have managed to keep to 5500 rev limit.
I could not however hard I tried. The flashing spanner has just appeared on my 749R and I been reving it to 8 all be it smooth and gentle like.

Has it's first service and dyno run in 2 weeks time. We'll have to see what the out come is. RUN IN HARD or AS PER HAND BOOK?

WATCH THIS SPACE as they say.........................................

UKRR 29-Apr-2005 20:25

I was the same with my 749R......it just starts to get interesting at 7K.
1st service...........termi assymetric plus 14t front sprocket.

chief 29-Apr-2005 20:28

UKRR

I'll take that to go!
