RAIN - The great leveller!

After all the discussions to get DD of the ground, which bike, which tyres, big bore, etc......

We get rain and the difference will have to be the riders ability, bravery and confidence.

Don't you just wish you went out in the wet on trackdays now!

A perfect start to the DD season.

Thoughts?

fil2 25-Apr-2005 11:02

Thoughts...........its gonna be all about bravery bordering on the insane.

Phil...

I'm a bit worried about this - there's been a few people having issues with their bikes. I hope everyone makes it through.

Not half as worried as me tony..? intermittent fault...splutters and pharts at 7k and above at random times does not inspire me at all....

I never rode (quickly) under the rain.
I don't like the rain.
But as the bike is a race bike, I think I won't be as scared as I could be with my road bike. It doesn't mean I will be fast, but I'll try.

domski 25-Apr-2005 11:36

It doesn't hurt so much when you fall off in the rain (providing you don't hit anything solid)

Just take a good book with you, coz you'll slide for miles!!

We never seen that from you dude :lol::P

NBs996 25-Apr-2005 11:39

I only have one excuse... the nob riding my bike!

rain will just mean cleaning the bike afterwards, won't affect my result.

skidlids 25-Apr-2005 11:44

Rain, Yes please !!!!!
I'm sure my 583cc bike will not be at such a disadvantage in a wet race, on top of that I'm happy racing in the rain, had a real good time a few years back at Thruxton in the Streetstock class on my Fireblade on road tyres, can't understand why they abandoned the meeting after that race as I was due out in the next race for the SOT and had full wets to play with. Just because a few were falling off.

But as Phil says there is the issue of the bike, on its one and only test it had a problem doing more than 3 laps of a 1.5km track and then just died. At least your bike Phil will probably get to the chequred flag providing you keep it upright.

psychlist 25-Apr-2005 11:47

Rain!! Yippeee!

Might just bring my bike as it stands and give it a go

Thats great for you steve...BUT many of us are on bikes that have problems..and its diffacult to drum up your positive attitude when you know you have bike issues..im sure your bike was running sweat as when u went out to race.?

phil

NBs996 25-Apr-2005 13:42

Phil, run on bare rims... you'll still beat him!

I might do that in the DD race, just to give Dom a chance

Met him on Sat, seems a nice guy.

I've heard he's quick but I've heard everyone is quick except me. I just want to get on the grid now.

Roll on Sat!

(After ACU practice on Friday though ...)

I've got broom handles mounted on my bike and one of them has your name on it! Straight through the front wheel!

Either or, I don't mind. The result is the same, I finish - you don't ;)

Muah ha ha ha ha!!!

domski 25-Apr-2005 15:01

We got to get through Saturday first don't forget!! :D

TP 25-Apr-2005 15:06

Yeah, I know. I can't see how the 150hp boys are going to get to use it on the woodlands though! Only out of Barn down the S/F straight, and maybe a few overtakes over the mountain and into Hall Bends.

Maybe they will be everywhere and I'll have bruises from the elbows!

fil2 25-Apr-2005 15:19

im worried the sound of thunder as they come pass will shake my bike to bits..............we have to come up with a DD plan of attack................

dom dont use my lines " no 1 is quick with 9 pss in the front tyre "..lol its the only 1 i got..................

ps..dont forget the plasma screen for the weekend ok...

Phil

domski 25-Apr-2005 17:09

I think the DD riders will be used a berm on Saturday

I may not have to worry about it yet, I still don't have an engine, let alone a running one, and even when it does run, we don't know how long the titanium rods will last for under full NOS...

...shouldn't have said that should I.

Domski - Getting the excuses in early :smug:
