My prep for the 2013 Season

Well I have already started getting ready for next season

The old van has gone and has been replaced by a XLWB newer version
I have started on insulating the roof and worked out where the partition is going to go so that I can have a garage section at the back and a living section in the middle
New Folding Ramp arrived today, a new bike grab arrived a few days ago from Spence's old sponsors kneedown.co.uk, so thats the loading and holding of the bikes sorted.
Awning is fitted on the roof.
Still lots to do to the van, such as removing the Bulkhead and fitting a Captains seat in place of the passenger dual seat

And once thats all done I can turn my attention to my bike

Premature again :D

I still need to sort out the Snetterton Crash damage properly, at least I've had the mastercylinder repaired, but that needs to be fitted along with new bars

Would Ideally like to get hold of a spare 900SS ie style half fairing, I wonder if Brummy Dave would notice if I pinched his

sorry to disappoint you but community service canceled this weekend again so no acorns- *******s have put me back behind schedule by 50hrs now (1/4 of my total time)- totally inefficient- it's ok for them to do that, but if i do it i'm back at the crown- hypocrites!!

skidlids 24-Nov-2012 10:31

They know what's coming so next time they will be issuing you all with Snow shovels
Or maybe you could chop firewood for old couples to keep them warm over the winter

Thats what I would call more off season prep work

bally71 24-Nov-2012 10:42

surely no one starts their prep until march

skidlids 24-Nov-2012 11:00

I think you will find several started theirs a day or two after Snetterton, if they're like me it doesn't mean it will be finished any earler than March but I hate last minute panics and would like to get out before the first race meeting to check the bike is back to how it was pre my Snetterton Crash

bally71 30-Nov-2012 07:53

i'm only jealous kev .. i'd love to be that organised

you've inspired me tho .. the battery is out and connected up to the optimate

skidlids 30-Nov-2012 17:18

Identical Harris Bars to the one I snapped at Snetterton have arrived this week, so I will be able to set the bar position and lever positions to exactly as they were pre crash :)

skidlids 28-Jan-2013 20:09

Running out of time, but at least the Van passed its MOT today, very little done in the way of converting it into a race van
My own race bike is still waiting for me to sort out the bars and mastercylinder from my crash at Snetterton, let alone have a look over the engine :(

brummydave 29-Jan-2013 21:30

the fairing may be yours kev,i am looking at fitting some r125 fairings, but i will let you know more when the refurb is under way (about the 22nd march !)looking like class b this year with a view to getting a class a motor sorted mid season.

Might be able to help out there if I don't convert Phil the Drills old class B bike to a Class A bike, although I hear Ghost may be looking to move on a 620 engine he out bid me on

No it turned out to be a 750 Kev, Spotless clean, don't think it did much. I may just strip it down and put the 6 speed into it then its an easy job when I decide to run the 6 speed by just putting the barrels and heads off mine onto it. :)

It was quite cheap, but I didn't fancy bidding any higher as the seller wasn't certain what it was, an hour after the auction finished I passed within 5 miles of it in the works van so it was worth taking the chance with a bid.

I'm off over to Dave Wood's (DWR) on Saturday for some Dyno time on Dallas's old bike, so a bit of winter prep but not on the bike I'm racing

I was there last week, Dave's son is interested in racing a class A bike.

Steve, they have had a steady flow of DD bikes over the last few years, along with my own bike , they have had Matt Larret's, Ron Jolley's, Hugh Simpson's, Kev Palmer's, Dallas's and a few others.
Junior emailed us the other day about the Class A regs, he has even raced with us on his SV when we were with New Era and entered the Allcomers.

Still hoping to arrange a Dyno Day for the Club with them some time.

Still way behind where I want to be, but at least the bars and the mastercylinder are sorted, and I've cleaned out the crass and mud from between the front tyre and the rim. But that's it for the bike so far.

The van is slowly taking shape with the lower part of the partition complete and a kitchen worktop fitted. Tool Chests are in place and this evening I bought some non slip floor covering from Lidl for cutting up and lining the tool chest draws.
Fitted some temporary insulation in the back part of the van today as i had a couple of large cargo nets arrive and with one stretched across the roof of the van I packed it with loft insulation, now I just want a sheet of some sort to stop the insulation dropping fibers on me

Still got to sort out everything I need to put back in the van but at least I located my dog tag earlier. But I'm bound to forget something
