Snetterton Test Day

Had a great day tetsing at Snetterton yesterday. The bike performed flawlessly and the suspension feels very, very good.

No trouble at all keeping up with the bigger bikes, even though I was running gearing for Cadwell.

Here are some pics:

and some pit pics

looking really good ant, glad everything went well.

fil2 26-Apr-2005 11:42

looks good m8..........u look ready to rumble

Harv748 26-Apr-2005 12:11

Looking good...and loving the 2 inch square seat foam! Is that a weight saving measure or all that was left:D

antonye 26-Apr-2005 12:40

It's a tactical decision - it was half the amount Nelly gave me as it all needs to come off again for when the seat unit gets painted!

That way I've got another piece ready to go.

Call me cheap... :D

antonye 26-Apr-2005 12:41

Apologies for the server outage - too many people are flooding my connection!

Give it a few minutes and it should recover.

Rattler 26-Apr-2005 13:58

Looking good - not sure how much oil that bellypan will hold though!!!!! :o:o:o:o

It's a Sigma pan, so I bloody hope it will hold enough as it's huge!

Rattler 26-Apr-2005 14:23

???? looks like there's no pan fitted!!!

antonye 26-Apr-2005 14:40

Big black bit underneath - partially covered by the fairing:

same as Chi's in this pic:

fil2 26-Apr-2005 14:44

how did the two bikes compare on power.??? Chi's and yours Antoyne..?

[Edited on 26-4-2005 by fil2]

antonye 26-Apr-2005 14:48

Don't know as I didn't try Chi's bike, and we were using different gearing.

I must say that it's bloody quick though, and certainly had no trouble keeping pace with much larger bikes :D

Bloody Quick..??? are u sure...??? have you had yours dyno'd.....i would be interested in knowing the result if you think it was bloody quick..as mine at 53bhp at the wheel feels bloody slow...............

cant see a 63bhp at the wheel feeling quick either.?

i was getting wasted on my 620 at cadwell on park straight.

dont know if you know what yours was pulling there phil but i was seeing a shade over 110 on the couple of occassion i glanced at my speedo.

yes i was seeing about the same and was getting overtaken as well......they seem very slow to me..sure they got some torque but once over 60 or so they are flat out slow..

Phil

ps..the 110 was on the odd occasion that it would rev over 7k without spluttering and pharting........:(

antonye 26-Apr-2005 15:50

Why does it matter what my bhp is anyway?

It's all down to rider ability, remember?

because you said it was bloody quick which got me thinking i wonder what BHP its pumping for Ant to think its quick when most people say the 600 and 620's are bog slow....

Matters phuck all really........keep it secret ! u know u want to..LMFAO

dickieducati 26-Apr-2005 15:56

i wish it was down to top end , i'd be able to beat tp, ali and dave then. but bring bends and skill into the equation and i'm found wanting.

Doesn't bother me either way to be honest. I'll dig out the dyno graph, get it scanned and post it later if you want.

chicken 26-Apr-2005 16:13

I'm sure "quick" is being used in a relative context here.

On the straights, we have everyone and their dogs blasting right past us, but we were able to go round the outside of them on the faster corners - "keeping up with them" is an understatement.

On relative power, I think Antonye's bike is marginally faster than mine. I don't know whether it is down to the engine, gearing, or weight difference (probably all three) and he is faster than me because of rider ability.

In the sessions where I started behind him, I was able to maintain the same distance to him when traffic was clear but couldn't catch up. When I started in front, he could catch me. Given a clear track with identical bikes I think I'd be within a second a lap at Snetterton, but his overtaking confidence is much better than mine so he'd win hands down in any racing scenario.

Monty 26-Apr-2005 17:58

The 'quick' thing is relative guys-low powered bikes can be lots of fun as you can use all of the power all of the time-which is half the point of the series.
My Gilera Saturno makes about 36rwbhp but it doesn't get overtaken much at Cadwell as you can just keep it flat and ride the corners-DesmoDue bikes should be much the same-only faster.
Power isn't every thing-look at MotoGP, the top 125's would beat the bottom MotoGP runners with 50 bhp compared to between 220-260 bhp! It makes you think.

That's what I was going to say, but I didn't have the facts to back me up!

fil2 26-Apr-2005 18:09

sure it aint..LOL..i bet you guys get told " size does not matter " lol

Phil

antonye 26-Apr-2005 21:07
