Bip to Mono?

Has anyone looked into a Monoposto conversion for their Bip yet?
Ive seen the Casoli conversion, but I dont like the look of it.It looks too long and does'nt seem to fit very well in their pic.
I wondered if it was possible to use oem Ducati parts a'la 748/996 etc?

webbyc 14-Jul-2003 20:55

Keefyboy you've only just bought it and you're trying to change - you were just so taken with the looks of my mono weren't you?

Have you tried Mike - Ripsnortingvtwin - he will be able to help you. He made my front mudguard which is an excellent job. He's always up for a challenge and ask anyone about the quality of his work. And he's cheaper as well.

iang 14-Jul-2003 22:11

Hi Keith,
A guy up north did the conversion and he told me that all he had to buy was a single seat alloy subframe (shorter) and a new single seat unit and it swapped straight over except for having to remove the seat release cable etc. I think the seat pad was the same but i dread to think how much it was to convert (any bent ones yet ?)
Thanks for the avatar advice (it worked) but don,t know if it is too long ?

KeefyB 14-Jul-2003 22:19

Cheers for that.
I had a sneeky suspicion that a new subframe was needed.I looked at the parts catalogues on Ducati.com and the mono and bip frames are slightly differant.I might wait till Casoli make an improved version or someone makes a cover for the pillion seat.
Great avatar Ian.A bit long tho, would look good as a signature, running along the bottom of a post.

iang 14-Jul-2003 22:33

Casolis products are normally pretty good, but i agree with you that the seat unit is too long and doesn,t look right
(my opinion only everyone).
You should price the bits up for a laugh and let us know.

iang 14-Jul-2003 22:36

Sorry for the large image but i have not sussed out how to get the graphic as my signature yet?? any advice

I'll get the prices for a laugh.:o

Biposto to Mono Conversion (Website)

Triple9 15-Jul-2003 07:36

Bip to Mono

Price for conversion using Ducati parts, £1000.00 approx !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cannot believe it costs this amount to get rid of a seat.
I have ordered the carbon seat cover from the catalogue, around £300 to £400

:o

Triple Nine 18-Jul-2003 23:18

Tecmoto have told me that they will be doing a replacement for the seat pad, sometime. Will have a chat with them at their DSC day next Saturday if I can make it there.

KoolKav 26-Jul-2003 22:44

Check DPerformance no: 96728303B which is a carbon rear rack which fits in place of the biposto seat.

Triple Nine 27-Jul-2003 20:23

KoolKav,

Just downloaded the DP accessories PDF for the 999, but can't find 96728303B !

Just a subframe and complete CF single seat unit with seat.

KoolKav 27-Jul-2003 23:49

Maybe because I'm looking at the 2nd Ed. printed catalogue...

KoolKav 27-Jul-2003 23:51

I'm on the trail for one of these painted, white number board and a single flush hole for the main beam (the way it should have been done).
Remember the 996 single holed race fairing?

Triple Nine 28-Jul-2003 14:58

Thanks KoolKav, me thinks I will have to order one of these!!!

Cheers, Roy

Triple Nine 28-Jul-2003 19:59

Um, just been to the local Ducati dealer, DP are taking the p**s £350 +VAT, I don't think so:mad:

KeefyB 28-Jul-2003 22:02

Wow!

The Casoli seat unit is looking more and more attractive!:o

Jools 29-Jul-2003 10:50

Hasn't Ripsnorting started doing any 999 stuff yet?

Looking at the demand, it'd probably be worth an ask.

fletcherp 29-Jul-2003 11:49

Last time I spoke with Martin at Forza they were about to make a pattern carbon part for the bip-mono conversion.
Might be worth calling him (now't on t'web yet)

Fletch

Why not just buy a real mono ?.......cheaper insurance too :sing:

My last 3 bikes have been single seaters , can't say I have missed the other seat yet :D

KoolKav 30-Jul-2003 11:23

Depends on whether you've got another half or not:roll:

My wife coudn't stay on the back of the Bip, so she'd have no chance on a mono:lol:

KoolKav 01-Aug-2003 18:57

Here's another offering from Germany.

http://www.ilmberger-carbon.de/ducati_999_en.htm

They also do the exhaust heat shield on it's own. Haven't ordered from them before tho'

Triple Nine 01-Aug-2003 23:35

Another option, just waiting to hear back from Tecmoto!

A bit drastic, when you have already got a bip.;)

The German seat is the best looking one yet (IMO),keep 'em coming.

KoolKav 09-Aug-2003 20:29

How's this one tickle your fancy?

Triple Nine 10-Aug-2003 00:30

From where?

But really want to just change the seat pad!

KoolKav 10-Aug-2003 01:27

Oops:

http://www.lusuardimoto.com/

My Italian isn't fantastic but the Coprisella monocolore looks loke what you may be looking for.

I spend too much time on the net!:borg:

KeefyB 10-Aug-2003 07:41

Kav,thanks for the info, that seat looks great.
I would prefer the mono seat to a pad replacement as I never carry a passenger.

KeefyB 11-Aug-2003 00:14

Yep,I like that one too.

My Italian is pretty crap too,but I think I'm gonna mail them next week.

Triple Nine 11-Aug-2003 00:25

Let me know how you get on Keefy.

Cheers, Roy

KoolKav 11-Aug-2003 11:54

You may also be aware that the Guys from Tec-Moto have good links with lusuardi moto so getting hold of one should be relatively easy (after August of course!)

Triple Nine 13-Aug-2003 01:00

Thanks Kav, I like the look of this :D
But my Italian is non existent, and they are probably on holiday until September:(

KeefyB 09-Sep-2003 22:05

Just got a reply to my e-mail.(They had been on holiday!)
The monoposto units are E325 single colour, and E460 two colour.
The clip on cover is E179 single colour, and E325 for two colour.
Shipping is about E100.

KoolKav 09-Sep-2003 23:13

Anyone going for it?

I need a Bip subframe + seat for occasional use to keep the other half happy next summer.

Triple Nine 10-Sep-2003 00:28

Keefy, that means for the 2 colour mono and cover + post is £650:mad:

and it's not an unclip seat pad and clip on unit, which is really what I want :(

Think I'll wait for Tecmoto

KeefyB 10-Sep-2003 20:24

This is the bit you want,179 Euro's.

Triple Nine 10-Sep-2003 20:33

Thanks Keefy, us thick Southerners:(

Cheers, Roy
