Race rep colours Right it's about time I got off the pot and organised the repaint of my gravel scuffed 999R. So to help me decide what to do - I thought I'd ask the audience..........yes I know I did this once before but it was only half hearted and I hadn't anyone I know that could do the job. Now I do and I want to get on with it. My current thinking is to go with a race team rep colour scheme and in initial thought order I'd go with -

MotoGP
Xerox WSBK
Airwaves/GSE
AMA Superbike
Fila WSBK
d'Antin MotoGP
Course I can always repaint to stock :D Let me know what you think? To help you along ----- ![]() [Edited on 5-5-2005 by everton] |
AMA all the way.; Clint. |
Airwaves - it'll be unique;) (for now) |
You know how i feel about this ;):P [Edited on 5-5-2005 by dave w] |
Everton as it's a 999 you have to go with a 999 rep, not a MotoGP rep... Fila - been done a million times now, and there is an official rep, plus it's out of date. Xerox - Well this years colours, not my choice though GSE/Airwaves - slowly growing on me Parts Unlimited - I do like this one if I am honest, v. original for the UK But there are quite a few others that you haven't included, maybe you don't like them? Last years Xerox bike? Renegade/Koji ? Monstermob? To name but three.... |
Or the Rank :D |
What about this colour  |
i like the D'Antin colours from Robbie Rolfo's bike - it has this sort of flowery design which is really cool - would maybe use that where the "D'Antin" logo is as well. Good luck deciding. |
Of those ones i think i'd go with Parts Unlimited or Airwaves. But overall i think i'd choose Renegade/Koji. And Monstermob would be one to consider too. |
I'm not a fan of race reps so I'd return to stock. If I had to choose though, I think the D'Antin bike looks best, but I don't think I'd like my bike to look like an unsuccessful team's bike. |
Standard. I think you'll de-value your (rather special) bike if you paint it in other colours. |
Wot about a nice yello??? |

why, are the Yellow bikes too fast for you? ;) |
Or something a little more "artistic"?? ![]() Tim |
Hrmmm ... I can only assume that you're not painting the carbon panels, those I would restore to red. I would have no qualms painting 'other' fairings in a race rep but I would likely use decals so you can remove it later. Of the choices you've listed I'd have the xerox colours myself - with some thought to Haga's bike from last year as well. Actually, I'd go Haga's bike! It would look the Dog's Borrocks! ;) |
Or some of that transparent paint!!! ![]() Tim |
Hi Dave, I am finishing mine.. tail unit already installed as well as new Flamingo Italy Fairing and nose.. 2005 Xerox replica, It looks great in my opinion (of course) but I have done with all aftermarket parts. So I have the full OEM kit originally installed ready for swap. I am going to use the xerox color fairing for trackdays, even is a road legal fairing. The decals kit is only 40 quids, but if you want to get closer to a replica, you need some white paint for the nose and the tail unit. Tank and fairing vyinl is fine (but you need a decals applicator kit) .I am counting to have it done for the weekend and show up at popham or wherever if we meet for a ride.. However I kinda of agree with Wylie and twinfan, That's why I bought everything as spare kit.. when tired of xerox, I will swap it with the OEM kit!! I will post pictures soon... Would have to be the AMA Parts Unlimited version:P |

JHP had a set of that bodywork when I was down there once, it's just for shows as can be seen from the photo, but I guess that might get heads turning |
Guess what ..... I voted for Xerox WSB 2005 :D |
Chrome plated. |
Haga Last round in the WSB. All time fav. You never see that many around. |
Everton..here it is... Finished just now.... hopefully the tail unit will not..melt!! I will post some pictures in a new topic... |
Is there a Renegade/Koji decal set for sale in the market? And the Airwaves version? I' want to paint my track fairings. |
No idea, but the guy who painted both the Renegade and GSE bikes is a mate of mine... |

You mean the real ones? Since he's in the business and if it's not too much trouble, can you ask him if he knows of any decals sets? |
Yup the real deal, check out the bikes, Rage designs on the bellypan.... As far as I am aware the airwaves graphics are airbrushed on in the most part and Koji/Renegade are pretty strict with copyright, I asked to see if I could get my new kit done in a stealth koji style, he had to ask the money men... still haven't had it done, although my avatar is what I originally had on my bike (Haslam Magny Cours 2004) |

Cool!! And thank you for the contact :) |
Everton, How about the Breil 749 set............ I have it lying about the house somewhere............... If you make a wee donation to a charity of your choice i will stick it in the post for you.... Regards ScottyB |
these ladies willl make you anything ;) |
out of the above choice id go xerox, however i would sugegst all black as an adition after all this years new black is essentially ermm, mat black? :frog: |
Parts Unlimited,all the way :bouncy::bouncy::bouncy: |
Dave, what about..this? I guess at this point I would wait this winter to see what 2006 logos are... This can be an idea..and certainly not copied yet.... Truly Italian anyway....:lol::lol: |
theres a reason its not copied  |
i'll go for the nanelli paint (poul smart) silver flake.. Great race paint, something different on the racetrack |

Thanks. I had already seen it, but they don't have any koji ;) |

What's wrong with it :puzzled: I like it a lot, but the black ones are out of the question because i don't want to paint the gas tank. If i did, i would probably go with this one or the briel one. |
..Nothing wrong..it is just "difficult" to make a Lanzi "replica " on a red bike... |
