Corse Stripe Fitment. Just bought one off eBay didn't realise I could buy one from someone on here.:( Any tips on fitting would be appreciated. Below should be a picture of one from another post. How do I get it to go over the radiused front edge? Cut it to shape of fold it under? As I say any advice would be appreciated but be quick as I may not resist the temptation to get stuck in and mess it up! http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/hyperdrive/ebay_corse.jpg |
For starters, don't even think about fitting it "dry" if you have never done this before. Peel the backing paper off first, then believe it or not drop the sticker into a bucket of warm water with no more than a couple of drops of fairy liquid or the like. When you lift it out you will be able to apply it easily and even shift it about if not in exactly the right place. Then use a palstic squegee to squidge the remainin liquid out. With regard to the front, you may just have to trim it off carefully with a craft knife. |
Actually John you're better off fitting it dry. You need to stretch the center so that it will follow the curve of the fender.. |
don't you just love this board ? what you gona do now then ttstu ? go wet IMO maybe we could start a poll |
Oh no! Wet or dry? Fender on or off? Trim before or after fitting? |
Float the main part on with a very thin film of soapy water. At the front edge heat it slightly with a hair dryer .... I DO MEAN SLIGHTLY .... and let it stretch to shape. |
Hey, you could have it sprayed on? Or perhaps powder coated? :frog::lol: |
Thanks Khu996. If I mess it up I may consider it.:frog: |

Why don't you send a u2u to revdecal? He runshis own decal business, he may know what he's talking about. |
Great advice from everyone, so not much I can add apart from be in a good mood when you start applying the stripe ;) |
because you wont be when you have finished and its on wonky :P:D:( |
Thanks all. I'll be back soon...................ish.:puzzled: |
Well that was a waste of fourteen quid! How on earth do you get something to stick without creases when it is curved on two planes! Can it be done? I think not. |
Email me at for very thourough instructions. If you bought it from me i'll resend you new ones.Did you but it from me on ebay?(sr signdesign). Scott |
Here is a bullet proof instruction sheet I send to customers.I personally wouldnt submerge in water ...But what ever works I guess. Sorry pic is a tad small but.... ![]() |
Thanks srsigndesign I don't think I bought it from you but I'll try your method. Thanks for your help. |
I know the instructions say very gently puu,but the vinyl is tough and you can pull pretty firmly. Scott |
I've messed it up and given up so thrown it into the bin. |
Tried myself to fit one off ebay tonight but soon gave up. In comes my 15 year old daughter "give us a go dad". Nothing to lose so I let her have a go. Turns out she made a good job of it. A few tiny air bubbles but better then my attempt. |
Yep,both Red Seb and I have have bought 'em off Ebay and both of them ended up in the bin. |
I WAS going to buy the front and rear white boards from a place in Australia called Cut Graphix (see link) to stop any chips on the front mainly, but at £75 for the pair I am am put off by these reviews of vinyl fitting !!! If the mudguard stripe is a pig to fit god knows what the fairing and tail unit will be like and at £75 it is a lot of money to go in the bin. Motographix should hurry up and release their gel versions at least they do not get bubbles in. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CutGrafix-Ducati-1098-1098s-front-race-plate-kit_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35616QQihZ004QQitem Z140111122331QQrdZ1 |

If you do get a few air bubbles don't give up hope as I noticed now they have all but disappeared. |

As a tip, you can always stick a pin in the air bubbles to get rid of them, then press down to seal the sticker. If you're careful you won't see the hole. |
I have a number board recently bought to fit...not looking forward to it as its vinyl like this!! I've had a few over the years and they've always been gel, easy peasy!! |

That's what I did on some of them. Comes from doing too much wallpapering. |

Lol, cheat! |
I found that it was easier using a spray with a little washing up liquid in the water and wetting the area, the board could then be fixed in place then flattened in place by hand stretching it into place without creases, it does work, first time for me and no creases. |
