Castle Coombe Race 4th June

Ok all of you DD racers out there, we have been plotting behind the scenes all week on a cunning wheeze that we can now announce.

To give all of the racers the chance to meet each other on an informal social basis, rather than helmets & leathers on with a track in front of you, we thought that it would be nice to arrange a get together at the next round.

Once I had got my head round the fact that the race is on Saturday not Sunday, then planning can start. Accordingly we will be getting together on the Friday night from say 19.30 onwards.

Dave & Annette have kindly offerred to lend their new pavilion for us to meet in (in case it rains) but we prpose to do the cooking outside! Butch is going to bring a large BBQ to cook things on, all you need to do is bring your own food and beer.

Please confirm to me your attendance and how many you will be bringing, so that we have enough charcoal!

Chris

TP 06-May-2005 10:47

BBQ and Beer?? Will I be there? Does the pope excrete in the woods? Is a bear Catholic?

I'm insulted!

I'll let you know numbers later ...

dickieducati 06-May-2005 10:50

great! as if missing the race is not bad enough, im missing out on all this too! borrocks. :(

great idea though.

ChrisBushell 06-May-2005 11:06

Dickie,

If as I expect it proves popular we will do it again at another round later in the year, just for you!

Hi Chris,

I am trying to understand... What is a pavilion ? You mean a big white tent ? If so it will take place at the circuit ?

If I understood well, Julie and me will be there, with food and drink :D

Yes and yes. Just make sure you're there with food, drink and Julie to carry you back to your tent.

:D

ChrisBushell 06-May-2005 11:36

Tonio,

yes you have it right, we will set the big tent up next to Monty's Motorhome. The aim is that all of the DD racers can set up next to each other in the paddock.

Chris

Tonio600 06-May-2005 11:45

Very good idea... thanks to Dave, Annette and the organisation :D

psychlist 06-May-2005 11:50

Great Idea!

We'll see if we can get there in time, even if we can't help demolish the beer and steak mountain (not enough calories for my racing diet  ) we could always help Annette demolish the marquee afterwards, thanks for the offer peeps ;)

Rattler 06-May-2005 11:52

Nice one - book me a place next to the Tele.
Tim

ChrisBushell 06-May-2005 11:53

Tim

Be quiet, I hadn't told Elizabeth that I was nicking the 12v colour portable!

Mark 06-May-2005 11:58

Chris,

Lord Rattler is used to 40'' plasma screens with 5.1 surrond sound, 12v colour won't go down well!

fil2 06-May-2005 12:16

Chris drop fordie a u2u he also has a big bbq gas powered.

Phil

domski 06-May-2005 12:23

Bugger!!

I thought I was going to get away with 2 race finishes

ali 06-May-2005 13:08

Me + missus will be there with 10lb of sirloin and a case of beer. :D

Chris; any chance of roping off a big section of the paddock so we can camp in the same area? (probably been discussed but I've missed it...)

Cheers,

Ali

ChrisBushell 06-May-2005 13:42

Folks,

1st ones there ge us a nice big space and that way we can start a complete DD clique, should worry the rest of the paddock!

Depending on the weather, and if people like it, might do a jumbo Paella on Saturday lunch time!

also the non-riders won't if i recall correctly be parking in the paddock, this is sectioned off for race vehicles only by large gates with lots of marshalls.

I think some of the guys who've not been to New Era club racing meets other than the DD will be pretty shocked at this one.... The New Era Powerbikes class is not a million miles from MRO sort of spending power..... it's a really big old club.

Went to CC last year to see Les Liney and Skidlids out there.... met up with Alan from AJ Racing and Louigi too.... was a huge thing :)

then we will have to stand closer together then...........:P

Thought you would have learnt about mouthing off already ;)

Although with a sneaky 50.8 in race 1 you may just be able to back it up this time!

:o

domski 06-May-2005 19:03

A sneaky 50.8 in traffic I'll have you know.

Was looking through lap times again, and Geoff wasn't much faster 'in traffic'

Roll on Castle Doom :D

Yes but how many could you put together? I think Mike may attest to you 'being a bit ragged'?

And I got more than one lap under 51 seconds ;)

I managed TWO sub 51 laps (same as you :P), and not on a 620 either ;););)

You rode a blinder Tony, I should have kicked your ass... but I didn't ;)

I only did 9 laps too :sniff::sniff::sniff:

Was I ragged? :o Just made one mistake I think :(

I've just had a look at the sheets and so you did - you must have been tearing through the field!

I was lucky, I got away with my big mistake and managed to stay on. i was talking to my mate Jason who was watching and he saw me do it - they all thought I was off!

domski 06-May-2005 19:24

In fact I only did 11 laps in qualifying and race.

Some people did 11 laps in qualifying alone :P:P:P:P:P

I got to come up with all these useless facts to make me feel better. I get better every day :lol:

Whatever you need mate - you just fill your boots ;)

domski 06-May-2005 19:27

Actually it's interesting to see that virtually everyone went slower in race 2.

Any ideas why?

Thought people would have gone a bit quicker than before :puzzled::puzzled::puzzled:

Somehow I don't think so, I was suprised to get comments at Silverstone today about the response on this website about the uproar Geof's wins had caused, I didn't realise that other racers not associated with the DSC or Ducati are reading our website. Also had a few ask about the series as they were looking for a cheap form of racing.

As for CC not quite sure where I will pitch up in the paddock as I will have mates all over the place, just like the previous years, but wherever I will certainly find time to attend the DD BBQ

Gordy 06-May-2005 22:14

Monty 07-May-2005 00:12

Dom, think yourself lucky mate-5 years ago I had BOTH wrist's in plaster-which made me a VERY bored person.
Mind you the day after the plasters came off I rode my little 500 Gilera for the first time-had no grip in left hand at all so had to curl my fingers and use my whole arm to get the clutch in-shouldn't have been riding, but it would have been rude not too..........
