Quick Action throttle Is it worth it? If so does any one know where I can get one for a 600ss from? Google fails me Cheers |
I think the usual choice is between Domino and Venhill |

Or a std SS ie one its what I used gives about 60 deg of rotation. |
Or a 748/916 etc Chris:burn: |
i use a venhill one its meant for a motorcross bike but its spot on, you can choose from two different settings |

That's great! thanks for the link Last question! How do I know which one of those I can use? I know nothing of these things. I assume I would need to get a throttle and cables? |
I used 356203 on the advice of Birthday boy Skids. That uses the original cable and ditched the other one - sp kust one cable now. This advice is for a 620 ss. The grey beards and dd minds will advise which is best for the 600cc bikes. |
IMO unless you have tonnes of BHP on tap a quick action is not really of any advantage on a DD bike. As Phil & Paul said standard is the way to go. Not only the cost but also the availablity as the throttle housing is one of the first things that can disintergrate in a spill. :D |
Ditch the closing cable as it's really not needed - those springs will have your fingers off anyway! You can then go to a single cable throttle, and use a 916 sized one (62º iirc) or get the one from Red Racing Parts (356203) which is actually the same as the 916 one but is branded Domino instead of being OEM The standard SS one is 90º so it's a twist and a half to get full throttle! Once I'd swapped over I always found the throttle much easier to use. |
Just a point to note when using one from 748 or SS ie when on full throttle you are using the cam stop at the carbs. So if you are really Gorilla armed, you could snap a throttle cable. I never had a problem, but I'm just a weee weak girlie type. :o :D |
Hmmm that could have been my problem. I fited a quick action on the B bike and had the cable snap on me twice in about 6 months. Both out of a corner into a straight where you snap the throttle open to full. Craig |

I fitted 748/916 throttles to both Matt's and Bionicle's 583's, I had cables made by Carrot Cycles in Lincoln http://www.carrotcycles.co.uk/ to suit for length and fit the correct nipples( ;) ) fitted, never had a cable snap, Bionicles bike will start it's 3rd year on the same cable. Never skimp on the important bits, get them made right. Chris:burn: |
