Indulgence May be of no interest to anyone - just wanted to advertise the fact that in my new home I have the following:- 1. No Telly but Broadband ordered so I can watch bike racing once I get the bit of computer kit that will allow it (any advice there would be welcome - computer enabled mate is looking into it for me but she doesn't realise it's quite important as I have missed loads of MotoGP and WSB already) 2. Stereo in living room, CD collection now Alphebetised 3. Record player (vinyl for those of us who remember what vinyl is) in 'Parlour'. So my 30+ year old Vinyl collection is now being aired regularly. 4. Remote control CD player and radio (bargain from Homebase - has a blue light - very cool and sounds good) for bedroom. 5. My CD playing on computer currently - Dido Life for rent 6. Radio in the kitchen tuned to Radio 4 (they had Van Morrison interview on this morning - extremely rare) 7. Cut the grass this evening. Drinking Chardonnay, Curry in the Oven. Sitting in my garage/office. Duchess behind me. I'll be out on her on Sunday. 8. I have died and GONE TO HEAVEN. :D:D:D:D |
Where are you planning for Sun??? Weather's looking good - info via Metcheck Jas |

No Telly? Comprehensive audio set up including turntable? Wine in the fridge and curry in the oven? Perfect!!! Word is that CDs might start approaching Vinyl for sound quality in about 5 years time (just think vinyl = 916/996/998, CD = 999) |

Also one of my favourites in my Vinyl collection right next to my Made In Japan album As for Party I hope its on a date I can make this time. |
I LOVE Pink Floyd!!! I remember when I first came to London and I was on the train into Waterloo and I say the Battersea Power Station. All I could think of was the pig they tied to it for the cover of Animals. I bought the Shine On boxed CD set of 12 Pink Floyd CD's years and years ago. :D |
TP, so young and yet so cultured ;) |
I won't mention my 25th anniversary boxed set of. ... wait for it ... Jethro Tull!!! |

All you need now is a window salesman and your sorted :frog: |
Floyd My fav is Wish you were here. ALso listened to some Wishbone Ash today for the first time in years, great stuff. But the The Free Story and Led Zep 4 are probably some of my best old time vinyls. |
I missed vinyl - when I was 15 and could finally afford to buy my own music it was all CD's. I feel left out :( |

the story goes that when they were doing the photo shoot, the inflatable pig came loose from its tether and drifted into heathrow airport flightlines......huge floyd fan myself, seen em twice live, saw the auzzie floyd at the albert hall a few weeks ago, quite good......:) |
It was my dream to see them live, but I was too young :( |

Nor is he "Too Old To Rock 'N' Roll" ;) [Edited on 14-5-2005 by Rally] |
I should add that Ians living room consists of the stereo in the picture and 1 chair!! He reviews hi fi for a magazine as a sideline and as a result has a sound sytem that costs more than most 2 bedroom terraced houses in london. dave abusing his position as elder(or should that read old) brother |
Dave, that makes me sound even sadder than I actually am. There are 5 seats in the room, and other people do come and listen occasionally. This qualifies me as a "Billy some mates" rather than a "Billy no mates" - an important distinction. |
Just out of curiosity, what are the electronics / speakers in that bling hi-fi ? I can't quite make out the logos.... |
Electronics are Musical Fidelity kW series, speakers are Martin Logan Prodigy electrostatics, turntable is SME Model 20...all top stuff! |
Yeah, looks heavyweight..... I'm at the opposite end of the amplification spectrum, using DNM's (less is more...) with Arcam and B&W Nothing like your kit though ! |
Heavyweight is the operative word! Total weight is in the region of 500 KG - the lounge is on the first floor of my house and getting that lot up the stairs was not fun...maybe I should have gone the DNM route!! (nice choice btw!) |
500 kg's as in half a ton ? sheesh ! hope you don't find your first floor stereo on the ground floor one day ! p.s. those Stand Unique stands are really strong aren't they ! I have a couple. |
Hmmm, the Floyd-saw them live in Regents Park back in 1970(ish)-free! There was a series of free concerts and I went to all of them, saw the Stones too-from about 500yards away it was that packed. Pink Floyd played 'Set the controls for the Heart of the Sun', and the bloody sun came out-fair freaked us out it did. Mind you we were all completely stoned at the time..............happy days.
