How much to fix it? Whats your guess at the cost of fixing my bike??? £3000? £4000? Well your wrong.............................. The inspector report says it will be about........ wait for it........... £9900:o:o:o:o:o:o |
:( EEEK! |
Are you the guy whos only TPFT too? If so mate, talk about bad luck!! Is there anything you can salvage to at least put towards a new bike??? |
Looks like there would be a queue for your crank cases! |
Bloody Hell! You were not messing about when ya crashed!!!!!!!!!!!! |
F'in Hell - did you ride off a cliff on it ??? I imagine the labour costs alone would add up to thousands - would take longer to rebuild than it takes to build a new one in the factory ! Could always put a bit of glass on top and hve it as a coffee table in your living room - would be an interesting conversation piece.... [Edited on 20-5-2005 by mikecardiff] |
unlucky chris whatever you do mate dont give up, you had a freak accident but dont let it put you off, mind you thats one expensive repair bill can you claim off your mates insurance who took you all down ??? |
Wow some crash mate hope you are ok ???:( |
Hi guys, Yeah its a pretty big amount of cash to swallow. I was TPFT but i should be ok to claim off my mates insurance. The claim is all on hold now untill i get to speak to him. He is now out of intesive care and waiting for his 8th opperation. Unfortunatley they have been unable to save his right leg below the kneebut at least he is still with us. Im still not sure about riding again right now but will give it some time and thought. I am due to have an opperation to remove the metal work from the thight i broke last year so will be back on the crutches for a few weeks:sniff: |
Yeah life isnt so great right now:( |
At least you're both still alive, which is the main thing - looking at the remains of the bike it could easily have been a lot worse - losing the bike is only money, which can always be earned / stolen / borrowed again, I've had friends die in bike accidents and thats one thing you can never replace :( |
Hello chris99 wishing you and all parties a fast recovery, regards TopiToo |
crikey! seeing bikes like that often make me wonder how people walk away from them. I guess its replaceble and you are here to tell the tale which is a good thing. sorry to hear about your mate and hope you all make a fast recovery. |
That doesn't surprise me Chris. They will be using genuine ducati parts at official prices, using ducati labour charges. I reckon it could be put back on the road for considerably less, but I guess that just depends on whether you can be ar$ed to go through all the trouble of doing that. I brought a Cat D VFr800 about 4 years back. Its quoted repair bill was £2k5 in parts (mainly plastics, headlight, clocks, all the brackets up front, etc). By a bit of careful ringing around over a few months I got all the parts to do the job for about 800 quid. As I said on your other thread, if the frame & engine are okay you stand a chance of sorting it. If the frame is beyond repair, well, game over really as it would be cheaper to break it and buy another. Good luck mate, and best wishes to you and all the others involved. Cheers, John. |
