Raise your forks!!! I just raised my forks thru the yokes with 4 lines (20 mm) showing, like section8 recommend http://www.section8superbike.com/749-999suspension.htm I haven't rode that much since then, but so far all i can says is......... WOW :D The bike turns sooooooooo much quicker. Now we're talking :D |
yup, i did that and was amazed, much nicer turn in. think they went that way not altering head angle to try and get more rider weight over front wheel. i'm going to try and get the angle of dangle gauge from work and see what it all equates to,then try swapping head angle and raising them to see if it makes a difference. |

Yes, let me know how it goes after you change the head angle. (to 23.5, right?) Also remember that if you do that you have to move the forks down again. I think that for street use this is enough, but for the track it might be good to change the head angle. Ahhh..... and i moved the seat/gas tank to the front also :D |

Went to check this out on my 749 and the forks were already raised 4 lines. I've had the bike from new so must have come like that from the factory ? Rich. |

Really? :puzzled: Mine came with just one line showing. Maybe you're dealer setted up your's as it should before he gave you the bike. ;) |
My 749S has 1 line showing - well, the 2nd line is almost showing. Section8 info has different setup for how radical you want to be. I'd have to go back and read it again, but if I recall there were 3 types of setup? |
Guy's,dont forget Ducnow's bike wears Ohlins forks.Dunno if there is any differance in the length of the Ohlins compared to Showa. My Ohlins forked 'S' came set on the first ring. I think the 749 Dark is set up slightly differantly because there is no adjustable steering head or ride height. [Edited on 27-5-2005 by KeefyB] |
Yep, they have 3 setup's but the last two are a bit extreme and they recommend it only for track use. I just raised the forks so far and still have to check how my ride height in the back is (they recommend 285mm) KeefyB, they recommend 4 lines (20mm) showing for Ohlins and Showa. |
I know what KB means ,I have a 749 bip( non adjustable steering head)mine came from the dealer with 4 rings showing. I wondered if the two frames have a different steering head angle:puzzled: |
Quote:
Really? the bip is non-adjustable steering head? I can see the screws in the side of the steering head, I thought it was standard feature and it was just the tank/seat position that was fixed on the bip? |
Sorry HW I should explain myself better. The 749 dark and the 749 standard both have a differant frame to the 749s. they don't have an adjustable headstock. |
