New tyres...

Has anyone tried 209gp yet?

Have seen these on a few bikes recently and as its not always easy to get 208gp I thought I would give them a go and see if i get on with them. Anyone else tried these?

Not yet Lily, but if they are even better than the 208gp's I will be.

hmmm, will they test these though?

Of the tyre reports i have seen they usually test the road version which doesn't give much guidance against its track counterpart. Will wait and see but its a bit late now anyway...:o

I've got the Pilot Powers fitted to my 998 and they are confidence inspiring. First or second day out I had them scrubbed and gone end to end of the tire. They grip well and feel great - very sticky... 120/70/17 and 180/55/17. Went with . I went with the 180 on the rear for faster turn in and they lean....lean way far. I give up before the tire does.

Sounds good Go Galfer
think I give Tyreman a ring on Tuesday:o

One of my mates had a big off this morning on his R1 on the Milford to Hindhead road, the front just washed out and he and the bike hit a brick wall. He was ok but the bike was a total write off.:(:(

Well, the first road ride went well after I scrubbed the tyres in and I felt pretty comfortable on them straight away, although its hard to tell on the road as suspension is pretty stiff so it moves around a fair bit on the road anyway.

Took them on track today and I have to say I was very impressed. Having ridden with 208gp before I figured they would be fairly similar in the wet so I was wary on the first session i ventured out and kept it pretty upright and smooth with only a few sketches in return.

The 208 often had a slightly unstable feel at the front which took some getting used to but was fine once you were expecting the feedback. The 209 didn't share this characteristic and the front felt much more in control and determined to grip no matter how random my lean angles were.

All round pretty pleased so far.

jpm, can you explain to me about 208gp's and now the 209gp please. Is this a track tyre really as apposed to a road tyre?

As imnot really using my bike on the road, i thought i would look at my tyre options, as apposed to going to full slicks!:o
