Opinions Please I've never been comfortable with the look of the rear light set up on the 999. Has anyone tried this? Any opinions would be eagerly received. Here |
I've been considering these. With built in indicators. Fitted with a clear rear lens from Busters Accessories. The original indicators can then be junked. http://www.kenscustomlights.com/749-999.htm |

Want something smaller and neater. |
The std is not that great..but the L.E.D type looks like a starship... ..anyway better ducati9 - first picture - than the Texas ones... |
:D standard looks o.k.,i'll leave the make-up to you bling queens:D |
Same bloke that sells the clear lenses on e-bay is diveloping an LED. rear light. can be seenb in a prev post in feb. |
Swannymere you make me chuckle. Your short to the point one liners are so on keeping with your avatar! It's not just the light assembly but my 999 has a small number plate relocator which basically screws into the rear of the number plate light. The wind has made this very lose and it looks like the whole thing could fly off at any moment. I feel the whole thing could be sorted in one. The Ducati9 at least has the plate holder included. |
its the iron works thats the let down, the mini plate jobbies make a big diff |
don't like LED stuff... reminds me of my young dumb full of c_m days watching knight rider -- crappy car with LED's called kit i think !!! you asked !!!! |
This is what i've done,using a www.ducati9.com no. plate relocator. |
and another view |
i used this one Fitted in about 15 mins. No messing around. You don't have to chop anything so if you want to put back to standard you can and you get a little number plate light. [Edited on 3-6-2005 by The Big Red One] |

... which you'll have to do when the plate falls off... ;) |
I've got the Rsend kit, with a 7x5" plate, makes the rear a lot tidier. I've had no problems with the plate falling off, although it doesn't feel the most secure of installations! With the plate relocated, the lights don't look to bad, I think they're in keeping with the style of the bike, but if I was to choose, I'd go for the Kens Custom Lights Conversion with built in indicators :D |
Here is my current set up. http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0RwAAA...25224740708417 There is about an inch of play at the bottom of the plate due to the not so secure fixing arrangement behind the number plate light. |
I had the Casoli one on my 749(the big red one) for 2 years without problem just use loctite on the number plate bolts. Just ordered one for my 999. They also do a led light which im going to order. |
i've got metal one -- brilliant. casoli / motrax type http://www.motrax.co.uk/Index_pages/...ndspecific.htm don't like the look of plastic one - big ask of number plate light unit !! |
Big ask indeed. My thoughts too. |
