Bye Bye 999r Well the time has come to move on :( The chap came down on Saturday and left me a big deposit and is picking her up on Thursday :(:( Will be sorry to see the old girl go :sniff::sniff: The new owner is only using it as a track bike !! its going off to be stripped down and race prepared... He's spending 6k on the engine alone :o:o Gas forks and full race kit etc etc. So whats next ?.... Not to sure at the moment, will be sticking with the K5 for the summer and see whats going on next year ;) |
Traitor :( |
as Lizzie said on another thread .. .. you can check out anytime you like but you can never leave ;) I know  |
so, when are we going to see this K5 out on the road?? Any Dorset runs planned..... |
Not suprised mate, #198 was in MCN for couple weeks, plus your using the K5 more and more, did seem pointless keeping something expensive and not being used. Speak soon mate, we'll have to catch up soon. Bradders, Rob41b has taken over running Dorset, as I've not got the time at weekends at the moment to commit to arranging ride outs. I will be giving Rob very soon access to the website so he can do his stuff. Mark. |

Dave You need a nice Aprilia RSV R you do! Now it just so happens that I................................................. ..................... |
I too am something of a convert to the K5 I hired a blue / white K4, and THE bike that caused the most interest was yours, black, original or after market pipe, it mattered not. Fab bit of kit. Miss the engine braking, the Ducati name / experience and the ethos but the K5, if it's really such a quantum leap forward from the K4, must be simply ming blowing. I found the fueling was very on/ off at the very start of the throttle travel on the bog standard bike I hired. Oddly enough, I thought I'd miss the Duke pretty badly, as I had been to the IOM TT on a 748 for the past 2 years, but it was not the case. 748R's still give me buzz to look at and hear, but the K5 is THE one to have right now from all the looks she attracts where ever she's parked up, and for the record, the K4 was a simply stunning piece of machinery and I loved her. Only saw 140 mph on the clock as Ichickened out giving it any more an the public roads - plus there was a bend up ahead with a dry stone wall rapidly approaching! Good choice imho.
