So, who wants to buy a 998 RS?? Yep, what the title says :D |
Me Alas, the budget doesn't quite stretch ... |
Yep, the budget is the problem... :( |
BTW this is fore real. I wanted to post this on the Market section :P |
how much?? |
The price to buy one isn't that bad, it's running it that's costly |
wont Steve Iles have 2 to sell very shortly ..?? the ones that he and Jay Fernandez are running ??? Soon be a glut in supply .... that wont help prices .... hmmmmmm |
Quote:
your right! constant engine rebuilds don't come cheap:o |
Quote:
Unless you have 3 spare engines like my mate! :rolleye: Alright for some I guess |
Sooooo how much? :ninja: |
40.000 euros? :D |
Quote:
You've got to be kidding! For another 10,000 euro's you can have a bloody Desmosedici! |

Yeah, when they come out. But it has a lot of spare parts (i think.....) Hey, it's not mine and i have no interest in this, i just spotted it. [Edited on 9-6-2005 by Ducnow] |

Why are you laughing? For how much can you get one? I really don't know :puzzled: |

Fair enough. I reckon he's going to struggle but hey, what do I know! |
lads, thats not overly excessive for the right bike 998RS's are seriously rare and with any sort of history or heritage are worth a shedload of money ... These are pure race bikes .... not dumbed down bikes for te road a'la Desmosedici ... completely different and no way of comparing them .... If you want a pukka Ducati race bike then thats what the 998RS is ... if you just want to wave your willy and show the world how much money you have then buy the Desmosedici (and then be too scared to ride it) Dibs |
Dibble, I bow to your superior knowledge Ducnow, I withdraw my 's |
I refer to my cleverly inserted get out clause: Quote:
:D But seriously. It still is a lot of money, I had a little look into them a while ago and could have found one or two a lot cheaper. I guess it comes down to what spares package comes with it. If it has a few engines or something like that then fair enough, if it doesn't and it comes ready for a service then it's WAY over priced!!! And one more thing donut muncher! Oh never mind ;) |

here fishy fishy fishy .... x |

You serious? C'mon didn't you saw it was a RS? Now im curious.... does anyone know for how much, on average, you can get a 998 RS? JPM, do you anthing about this form your friend? Yeah, 40,000 euros is a lot of money, but if you think that a 05 999R costs 30,600 here, it's seems like a "fair" enough price. We're talking about an RS.......... |
Well i checked on an online currency converter and at current currency rate it's £26,816. I think we have a BARGAIN here after all :D |
Quote:
I'd say an "average" RS02 will set you back about £30K probably might have a few spares, not many though. Think my mate paid around £70K for his, but it was pretty damn new with mucho spares, wheels, foxley starter, clutches, possibly some engine components. Would I rather have an RS02 or possibly a 999RS04 over the Desmosedici road bike? definitely, it's an out and out race bike not a blinged up road bike |
You see "proper" Ducati race bikes for sale from time to time. In some respects they are great value for money if you look at all the goodies you get. Yes the running costs will make your eyes water but the costs can't come as surprise? No different to any other motorised toy, be it car, boat or 'plane. Since the beginning of this year I have seen a few ranging from around 17K to 30k. various ages and specs. Some have thrown more at a road bike, whatever floats yer boat as they say. Must be nice to try one if only to realise that Foggy is the God he says he is:o Ray [Edited on 9-6-2005 by Ray] |

halleluah, halelluah, halleluaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah ..... |
You can get a good 996RS for less than 20K, but the running costs are more than the 998RS range so be warned! A good compromise from what I have seen is get hold of RS running gear, frame, forks, swingarm, wheels etc then chuck in a Testastretta road engine, albeit heavily tuned that'll cost about 20K but will start on the button and have cheap running costs but have the pukka handling. |

you've thought about this far too much haven't you ??? |

Not really, my mate with his RS02 has also just built the above using his old 150HP 996R lump, this is now his "wet" bike when racing setup a bit softer for those very conditions, looks identical to his RS02. Dibble, this is the guy I was trying to get on Brands... :o |
JPM, There is a place up here that has done something similar with decent spec rolling chasis. £21k bought an ex Highland spring bike with a 998 testa mota early this year. I paid a tyre kicking visit to their premises a few weeks ago. An R71 in stock if you didn't want a 996 or 998RS FO2 They had a few bikes you could make a small fortune with, starting of course with a large one:lol: Ray. [Edited on 9-6-2005 by Ray] |
How do I prevent my wife from seeing this thread ... Oh and Dibble, you're getting closer and closer to a slap! |
Quote:
Hang on your wife gets to use other stuff other than kitchen utensils? That seems to be the issue here! |
Quote:
Lily! LILY!!! |
She's busy in the kitchen mate! |
Dibble, I was told Iles leased his ones? Shouldn't be getting rid of them quite yet though unless you know something I don't?:o |
He posted here a couple of weeks ago that he may be getting rid, one of them he definately owns .... talked to him at length at Croix last year ... |
Blimey hope he doesn't do it for a while yet! |
