Sky TV packages. Can anyone tell me the best package from sky tv. I'm not interested in footy, rugby, athletics or movies Just motor sport:) Also do you know if you can have a sender that will send the sky signal to a reciever so that you may view it at a location of your choice. Bedroom, lounge, kitchen, bog:D [Edited on 8-6-2005 by Jon] |
Jon, I have the most basic package that they do but that includes M&M for some bike shows and Eurosport, then add the Sky Sports Package, between that lot I get the NW200 / IOM TT / AMA / BSB / WSB / MotoGP as well as shedloads of car racing .... If you don't need the abiilty to watch 2 different channels then yiu can geta wireless sender like I have in the flat and a couple of receivers, so now I have sky in the dining room and bedroom. If you are coming over on the 14th with Rattler I'll show you. |
We have all the channels and it's £41 :o Been thinking about dropping the movies, but for £8 a month it's barely worth it. As Dibble says, £33 a month I think ;) |
;) I've just downgraded from 'Sky world package' at £41 a month to another package which is Sky Sports 1 & 3,Sky Movies 1,3,5,7 and 9 and everything else at £34 a month. Still have 2 premium channels so get Sky+ for no extra subscription charge (£10 without 2 premium channels) and the Sky+ box is only £99. I've also added multiroomn for £10 a month which is putting my old box in another room,so that that person can watch something different from me. ACE,new charge is £44,but a much more flexible package for what i need. |
So once you buy a Sky+ box @ £99... that's it? No extra monthly cost? I have the 'Sky world package' already :o |
if you have the sky world package then you dont have to pay anymore for Sky + a month, its only if you dont have more than one premium channel thats it costs an extra £10, might aswell pay the lot at £41 and get the SKY+ subscription for free, Well worth it escpecially if BSB and MOTO GP are on at the same sort of time, you can record one and watch the other!! |
:saint:Exactly right,to get sky+ without the subscription all you need is 2 premium channels, mine's being done as we speak:D |
Go for freeview as M&motors is free on there now and E4 is free to for u BB fans and hollyoaks next epoisode is on at 7 pm to , the motogp is on bbc2 as well:D:D:D |
Thx guys, I'm still no wiser. Dibbs we will chat over that beer and you can show me yours;) |
Make sure whatever package you go for,you get Sky Sports Extra.Sometimes the sneaky b*****ds put the bikes on that channel when the other channels are showing live football, snooker, rugby, tennis, tiddlywinks, marbles, etc,etc...... I did'nt bother with the muti room cobblers. Most Sky boxes have an RF out socket,so all you need is a length of co-ax cable and run it to wherever you want.My house has already got tv sockets in most rooms, all I had to do was swap some leads around to make it work. I watch Sky on my main tv through a scart and the rest of the house through the RF. |

You have a licing room? Eeeeeeeewwww :frog: As far as the RF goes Weeksy, the chances are that all the TV sockets in your house are fed from the same terrestrial aerial via a splitter or distribution box. All you will do if you plug the RF output from your sky box into the TV outlet is to send the Sky signal to that cable. It won't go through or past the distribution box. What you need to do is run the RF output from the sky box to the input side of the distribution box in place of the feed from the aerial, (actually, you will want to run both the aerial cable and the sky cable into a combiner, then into the dist box so that you don't lose terrestrial tv) then the signal from the sky box will be duplicated on every other outlet. Any TV in the other parts of the house will need to have a channel tuned into the sky signal just like tuning any other channels. All the TV's will be getting the same sky signal though, so if somebody switches channels on the sky box, all the TV's listening in to that sky signal will change channel as well |
Yeeah, thats about it Jools.Too much vino rosso to think straight. Not a problem in our house as we only ever seem to watch Eurosport and Kerrang! |
Thanks Keefyboy. I only have ariel sockets in the lounge and one bedroom. My tv is in a massive cabinate which weighs a tonne and would probably rupture myself trying to get it swopped over quickly. I like Dibbles system because I can always take the portable to the garage or shed to watch in peace, if I've fallen out of favour with the wife.:D |
