GUTTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe that Bob Geldoff has convinced Roger Waters to go back to Pink Floyd and that David Gilmour has agreed!! They are reforming for Live 8 - we've texted for tickets and won't know until tomorrow night apparently but most people seem to know already.

This would be a once in a lifetime opportunity for me - the chance to see one of my favourite bands of all time who broke up before I was even old enough to go and see a band.

I feel like I've missed out on one of those opportunities and I'm absolutely GUTTED!!

:(:(:(

I feel sick - :barfy:

kwikbitch 14-Jun-2005 23:52

OH! NO!...look on the bright side...at least it will be televised:D

TP 14-Jun-2005 23:53

I'll record that and go and sit in Marble Arch so I can hear it!

:(

rob748b 14-Jun-2005 23:53

You can always bid for these tickets!!

TP 14-Jun-2005 23:55

Cheap!

Ebay are getting rid of these auctions now - it's all over the news now. Bob Geldoff is being interviewed about it.

rob748b 14-Jun-2005 23:56

Yeah i know bit scandelous int it!!

I remember missing out on them the last time (1980 ish) some older lads I knew were going down to London to see them but my dad would not let me travel that far at the age of 14. Something I held a grudge for a long time for! Likewise I could have seen Blondie in Blackburn in 1979 but I needed a new tyre for my bicycle which was the same price as the ticket, always regretted that decision :sniff:

The Wall was the first double album I ever bought I remember walking to Ames records in the snow the day it was released with my saved up spending money. The sticker that came with the early copies of the record was still stuck to my old bedroom window up to about 5 years ago. eeeh memories :)

Saw the Floyd live in Hyde Park in 1970? I think. There was a series of free concerts and they were on one of them. They played 'Set the Controls' from Saucerful of Secrets and the sun came out-freaked us all out, mind you we were all stoned at the time........... Also saw the Stones in another concert in the park that summer-happy days.

Ahh, the one of the few benifits of grey hair. Saw them in London on The Wall Tour, sat next to the drummer from Queen and his Girlfriend. What a night...

I'm not sure i understand what the fuss is about regarding the selling of the tickets on ebay. They were talking about this on the radio last night and ebay were adamant that the auctions would stand as no laws were being broken etc.

There was a quote from Geldof the grey going on about how it was scandalous that people were out to make money "off of the poorest people on the planet" but surely they are making money as a result of some very rich people doing a concert?

Supply and demand surely. It was the same story with the Nike wrist bands when they first came out. You bought them for a minimal charitable donation and then flogged them for 20bucks a go on ebay?!?!

eBay now realise that they cannot beat Sir Bob of Geldof and have pulled the plug on any Live8 tickets. Maybe it was because he called for eBay to be "brought down" if they didn't....

:lol:Saw Roger Waters at Glastonbury i think 2 years ago, did'nt see what all the fuss was about!Apart from his surround sound kit it just came across as some old has-been living off past glories.David Bowie however, was awesome, his set coinciding with the sunset.Still not as good as Al Green but alot better than Rolf Harris:lol:There may be recordings of the roger waters set on Ebay

Jools 15-Jun-2005 17:42

Well, better to be a "has been" than a "never was".

I'm another of the old farts who was young when the Floyd were in their prime. I saw them a few times at Earls Court and at Wembley in their "Dark Side of the Moon" days. They were very good... although at the time I prefered Genesis in their Peter Gabriel/Steve Hackett days (Phil Collins should've stuck to drums).
