Cheeky Brands day today!!!

Managed a cheeky Brands day today with focused events.

Weather was superb, had quite a laugh dicing with a great group of lads riding a couple of ZXR400s, a CBR600 and a Fireblade.

Had a couple of big slides on the Diablos, so I'll be on the phone to Tyreman toot sweet in time for Snett!!!

Will post a couple of pics when I get some new webspace!!! Or can someone lend me some?

:flame::flame:

Scott was kind enough not only to take the pic, but also to host that for me. He was also kind enough to crop the pic so as not to show how far away from the apex I was ;)

And in answer to your question - not far enough!!!! ;)

I've always liked Brands Indy - it was where my first trackday was on my GSXR600 back in 2000.

God knows how many trackdays I've done since, but most have been at Brands I reckon.

Its just a simple track with only a few corners, so should be easy to learn - in reality there are just 3 rights and 2 lefts (over simplification I know!!!) - and short enough to get lots of laps in and hence lots of practice.

I'm no where near fast enough there yet for the DD round later in the year - so more practice required.

No, not enough info.

I was in a similar position to you, sliding on my last set of diablo's and managed a low 58 or two ...

You?

Rattler 22-Jun-2005 12:49

There were no official timings, but I did have my manual lap-timer mounted and showed times similar to yours.

What was strange and somewhat enlightening was that it seemed my fastest laps were the ones where I tried the least!!!! ; :o:o:o:o:o.

I diced a few times with a group of guys on various Jap offerings and they said they were lapping in times in the 56 - 59 sec bracket - so there or thereabouts I reckon.

Playing in the fast group with an underpowered bike can be really frustrating, but also great fun when you stuff it up 'em in the corners.

It was really encouraging to tackle paddock without braking, just back her off a bit, drop her down a cog and drive for the apex - a scream!!!! ;)

TP 22-Jun-2005 13:04

Nice one.

What do you think your race pace will be?

I made the last bit up about not braking into Paddock, but you can leave it really late if you're on the right line!!! ;)

As for race pace - god knows what mine will be, my racing times appear to have no direct reflection on my laptimes on trackdays.

I reckon I know why too, just gotta find a way of fixing it.

As for other DD'ers, I think that averaging 58's will get you into the top ten. You'll need to be sub 1 min for a top 15 spot and the leaders will be circa 53 - 55 ?? Just my guess though.

Tim

TP 22-Jun-2005 13:27

I reckon it will be quicker than that mate.

I reckon you'll need to be low 57's maybe 56's to get into the top ten, with the odd 55 here and there. The leaders in the 52's.

keefer 22-Jun-2005 13:27

you're gona turn into the boy that cried wolf with all your fibs

Maybe - I'd better get myself sorted toot sweet then!!!

However, my suggested times are right, as its gonna be raining!!! ;)
